cassandra and kafka are new to me too, but those work for me out of the box that RJ/Russ set up.

chef has its own way of thinking about things, but should be pretty easy to pick up.

only vagrant, but even that was on the high level just to get going with development

chef will be a really good skill to learn. we're going to be using it a lot more in our deployment.

ruaok: OK, got in via password and fixed the key (the first character was missing it started with sh-rsa instead of ssh-rsa).

postgres is not hosted on that machine. we use an external one.

this was the first pair of armadillos I wore out.

at first I was kinda miffed that they didn't last very long.

then I did the math. They're 6 years old and have seen thousands of km of wear

and not a single flat.

the first flat is the sign to change the tire, so off to shopping I go.

That's a good track record! If the flat is from a puncture and not a pinch then that sounds like a good excuse for new tyres :) I'm enjoying a pair of Schwalbe Durano Pro's at the moment
