HELLO MB <3 I receiver a password email from MB, if I already chenged my pwsd when bolg post, do I have to change again ?
      • « Unfortunately logs from this server do show that this database dump was downloaded » is the IP list big ?
      • ocharles: ah, 2013.4.29. :D

        Morning all!
      • ianmcorvidae: Unfortunately, redis is not available on the server, so I need to find a way to run MusicBrains server without it. I had a look through the DBDefs and couldn't see any obvious way to un-configure, so I would very much appreciate some pointers in that direction.
      • ianmcorvidae: As for replication patches, you are welcome! :) At the moment the priority is to get the server up and running, so I'm not going to have too much time to spend on them today. But hopefully tomorrow will be better! :)

        :(
      • Some people are (legitimately) complaining on twitter about us taking so long to inform everyone, and that's kinda frustrating
      • Also, can someone answer this guy? https://twitter.com/hidgw/status/32437664620965... I don't even know what that means :)
      • jesus2099 can’t, someone took jesus2099 from me on twitter
      • I meant from the MB account or one of the dev accounts
      • (maybe ocharles)
      • jesus2099
        of course :)

But well, we did announce it elsewhere as fast as we could too
      • ocharles
        it'll die down
      • reosarevok
        Yeah, I know :)
      • ocharles

      • ocharles
nikki: thanks. that'll go away when we move to bcrypt so i'll leave that open for now
      • at least, it should do
      • nikki
        I thought we had done?
      • ocharles
        no, not yet
      • still only bcrypt hashes, we still have cleartex
      • ok, new emailer running which shouldn't email people who logged in recently
      • did you get emails?
      • reosarevok
I didn't, but I had changed my pass already so I shouldn't have anyway...
      • Oh, wait
      • I did
      • Why? :/
      • ocharles
        why did you get it?
      • because I can't type dates correctly
      • It was sending emails for all editors who hadn't logged in after 2013-04-29
      • which is yet to even pass :)

JonnyJD_: the libdiscid slowdowns for picards use case occur in versions 0.3 up to 0.4.1, right?
      • JonnyJD_
Mineo: yes, if picard is patched for 0.5.0 and only on Linux currently
      • Mineo
only on linux? you mean because other versions of picard include an old libdiscid version?
      • JonnyJD_
well, what you say is true for Windows and Mac, too; but these don't include anything higher than 0.2.2
      • yes
      • Mineo
        ah, ok
      • JonnyJD_
1.2 was also shipped with "old libdiscid"
      • ruaok_ joined the channel
      • Mineo
well, I was about to merge your pull request and am adding a note about unrecommended versions to INSTALL.txt
      • JonnyJD_
Mineo: yes, you can do that.
      • Mineo
so simply listing the versions with slow TOC reading should be enough :)
      • JonnyJD_
libdiscid 0.3.0 is shipped with openSUSE 12.3, otherwise I don't know of stable distributions that ship any of these versions.
      • oh, and 0.3.0 is not slow..
      • because 0.3.0 doesn't include linux support for ISRCs (only windows/mac 0.3.0 would be slow)
      • Mineo
well, I don't want to add a compatibility matrix listing all versions on all operation systems, so I'll just list 0.3 - 0.4.1
      • JonnyJD_
        yes, that is fine then.
      • Maybe I should put up a feature matrix for libdiscid in the wiki

Guys, is master on the GitHub just a mirror of master on BitBucket?
      • reosarevok
Also, if you're submitting a PR on BB, you should probably do it against the beta branch
      • UmkaDK_
        Thanks reosarevok!
      • sezuan joined the channel
      • What about if I needed the latest production copy? That would be BB master, right? Or would you recommend one of the tagged releases on GitHub?
      • reosarevok
Latest production copy is github master
      • Latest beta copy is probably bitbucket beta, but I'm not fully sure
      • UmkaDK_
        Ok! Once again, thanks! :)
      • reosarevok
(we have a 2-week release cycle in which the first week we merge patches to beta, the second week we run them in our beta site for testing)
      • Beta runs against live data, but I imagine you want master :)
      • nikki
speaking of which, which week are we in right now?
      • nikki has no idea what the topic means
      • reosarevok
        freeze
      • "With an extreme subarctic climate (Köppen climate classification Dfd), Yakutsk has the coldest winter temperatures for any city"
      • :)
      • nikki
and how is anyone supposed to know that it's a place, let alone what the climate is like just from looking at the topci? :/
      • Mineo
you just need to think "sounds russian, it's probably cold there!" :P

      • nikki

      • JonnyJD_
        Jakutsk
      • well, but I am from "east germany".. so maybe only there.
      • I hacked together a nice feature table for libdiscid: http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/libdiscid
      • transclusion would be nice
      • Mineo
to be honest, I've never heard of yakutsk before either
      • reosarevok
JonnyJD_, wouldn't libdiscid 0.4.0+ be better?
      • (for the last line)
      • Or is this how a feature matrix works? (I hadn't even heard the name before :) )
      • JonnyJD_
well, I did put a note about only having versions where new feature support is added and I'd guess people don't get confused when not every version is listed
      • reosarevok
        Ok :)
      • JonnyJD_
reosarevok: not sure if there is a "standard" for a feature matrix, but normally features don't get removed unless explicitely specified
      • reosarevok
        Makes sense
      • Ok, transcluded!
      • JonnyJD_
        thx
      • reosarevok
(and also the libcoverart page you had updated)
      • JonnyJD_
ah, forgot about that. But I must have thought that change isn't that urgent.
      • Mineo: maybe it's on the "risk" game board..
      • Yes, it is. A really nice board game by the way.
      • warp
I didn't know about Yakutsk. I just expected someone who didn't know to enter it into google (or bing or duckduckgo).
      • Ben\Sput
it would be really nice if editors didn't have to select recordings for tracks when they added releases
      • nikki
        they have to now?
      • reosarevok
        Well
      • The UI doesn't do anything to suggest they should not :)
      • Ben\Sput
nikki: there's no way to *not* select a recording for a track, is there?
      • the closest is making a new recording
      • reosarevok
Well, yeah, because that's how the whole schema is designed
