hm, from the github side mine looks the same

alastairp: I changed the repository from musicbrainz-ngs to musicbrainzngs in the RTD settings. Maybe that was the problem.

We'll find out with the next commit..

not sure if you updated it now, but it is updated now (possibly automatically after I changed the repo)

I read the code. what i want to ask is about replication and what exactly needs to be done and how?

Also i dont remember who it was, but he said that its not of much help. Why is that? And if its not of much help then is it good to spend summer on that proj. ?

oh, for the replication bit you'll probably want to set up a local slave server, which is documented in INSTALL.md in the musicbrainz-server checkout

though I've never actually ran the changed-mbid-feed service locally

it was mentioned that an actual webservice to poll for changes would be easier than consuming a feed for a tagger, yes, but the data is essentially the same

the downside is having to consume every file in the feed, which isn't so good if you haven't opened Picard in a while

I guess I'm undecided if it would be good to proceed with using the feed, but I know people have wanted library functionality in Picard independent of it watching for changes

keeping track of the actual music files in a local db

My basic point was that if I have 10,000 songs on my computer i just want to know if any of those have been modified since I last updated my files

Im not bothered about chnages to any other entities, and I dont want to have to have a local_db keeping a record of the datafeed changes

Ok. I got that. But how can i achieve that? One was i guess is through what bitmap showed and another is using the webservice.

actually, the beets plugin makes it act as a music player that has an interface which mpd clients can connect to

not really the same thing :)

but... that's basically most of the way to what I wanted for riker

it annoys me that I can't conditionally include disambiguation stuff, since I don't know whether or not I need to >_<

unfortunately the bpd plugin for beets only supports the mpd protocol version 0.13 which no client actually speaks anymore :/
