in other news, we had a great board meeting.

replacing derek sivers who had been there from day 0.

the board meeting was really good overall. we've also agreed to sponsor the SF music tech summit in the fall.

then the week turned to shit.

database downtime, web front ends going crazy.

search servers being fussy.

and it turns out that some of our RAID controllers in deployment are painfully slow.

so I spent a good amount of time fixing and tweaking them.

with some degreee of success.

then I tried to get our KVM console switch factory reset.

turns out that can only be done via a serial (rs 232) connection.

with a special cable.

that is no longer on sale.

I tied janking together my own cable, but there is something in the mix that isn't working.

and no diagrams can be found to make it yourself?

not that I have a working machine that has a native serial port.

warp: thats what I tried, but failed.
