I noticed that the Replication Sequence Number skipped a number last night. (eg went from 74570 to 74572) and has not updated since 3am.
      • Does that sort of thing happen from time to time ?

One cannot enter URL like "http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729-Dominique-A", those are truncated by js to "http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729", leading to 404s if editor overlooks it.
      • reosarevok
        Known
      • Discogs fucked up
      • ruaok has apparently written to them to ask if they really wanted to change it so http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729 404s and http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729- works, because that's retarded
      • So it's hopefully a mistake on their side :p
      • (and not a design choice, because wtf :) )
      • zas
        hmmm
      • warp
        :D
      • zas
so basically discogs urls are broken, editors (like me) may try to fix it, but it will not work, or they'll enter perhaps-broken-in-the-future discogs urls....
      • reosarevok
        Just enter them normally
      • SultS joined the channel
      • They'll be broken for a while
      • But either discogs will fix it, or we'll run a bot to fix it
      • So no big issue
      • zas
you mean enter "http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729" for ""http://www.discogs.com/artist/166729-Dominique-A"
      • reosarevok
Sure, just don't think about it and let the js do whatever
      • It's not like it's not trivial for a bot to fix
      • zas
the thing is that existing links to discogs return 404s
      • reosarevok
        Yeah, I do understand that
      • zas
        annoying ;)
      • reosarevok
What do you want us to do, waste our time to go run a bot to add a - to every one so that when it's fixed we run a bot to remove it?
      • Just add a - to the link when opening it, we'll all live
      • It's not like so many people follow the links anyway tbh :p
      • Now, if discogs mail back saying "no, we totally think that's a good idea and won't change it", then we'll run that bot :)
      • (and shake our heas)
      • *heads
      • zas
i'm fine with the "do-nothing-for-now" approach, but i think a notice for editors should appear somewhere (perhaps on the blog): Discogs fucked up... etc....
      • reosarevok shrugs
      • reosarevok
I'd be fine with a banner, but every single other member of the MB team is asleep in Chicago, so it'll have to wait
      • ianmcorvidae, bitmap: when you're awake, maybe add a banner explaining the discogs situation?

zas: nope, no progress. Warp tried to make a build environment, but I think he gave up (since the current instructions are fairly outdated)

JonnyJD_: Hi. Do you have any plans on a new isrcsubmit beta release?
      • JonnyJD_
Sebastinas: yes, I do have plans, but no schedule (lots of other things to do)
      • Hadora
        some 502's here
      • JonnyJD_
jade_: just start stating your problems, then we can asses who might be able to help you ;-)
      • jade_: there was some problem yesterday due to some servers where the dependencies are hosted were offline
      • jade_
when I run the mvn package install it fails to find the juniversalcharset-1.0.3.pom
      • lol.. started the install last night.. :(
      • error states unable to find resource
      • JonnyJD_
jade_: somebody talked about that on Monday here: http://chatlogs.musicbrainz.org/musicbrainz-dev...
      • Sebastinas
JonnyJD_: Okay, just checking as I'm currently updating some packages.

reosarevok: is the difference between the general "has page in database" relationship and the more specific ones that the latter get special treatment when being displayed in the sidebar?
      • reosarevok
        No
      • The main difference is the others are "smaller" databases and if we had an entry for each the dropdown would be an unwieldy mess
      • Mineo
        :D
      • reosarevok
(they all get on the sidebar though)
      • Ideally we'll un-merge them once there's some code to only display in the dropdown those relationships that aren't always autoselected
      • Mineo is currently browsing freebase to find out where links to it may be useful and discovers the most important section on the entry for germany: https://www.freebase.com/m/0345h?props=&lang=en&filter=%2Ffood%2Fbeer_country_region :)
