I am student of university and writing bachelor work and I would like to mention musicbrainz.

http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/browser/search_serv... is the indexed search server, and the main database stuff is fairly normal indexes done by way of postgresql GIN indexes, as I recall

I mean , the mechanizm that when you create fingerprint and you send it for comparition to server DB ,
