there's some stuff in miscellaneous that might matter? dunno about the isrcsubmit stuff
sysadmin/irclogger I need to finish mb-chat-logger to deprecate
I think sysadmin/mrtg and sysadmin/packages are deprecated
pymb2 might not be anywhere else

reosarevok: can do (or at least, I can submit the appropriate request). What specifically are we trying to achieve, to rename "bugs" as "trac" ?
reosarevok
Not necessarily rename for now
But make both go to trac
djce
then maybe get rid of "bugs" one day?
warp
also get rid of "trac" on that day.
reosarevok
:p
djce
either way, it's a DNS change and an nginx change, possibly a change on wiley too....
ianmcorvidae
I think the notion is make it easier to find for as long as we continue to have it
with a nice helping of "let's get our shit away from SVN so we can just kill it" :P
djce
How do you think that people find it? Why does adding a new DNS name make it easier to find?
ianmcorvidae
because 'bugs' and 'tickets' are very similar terms, so people tend to remember "old = trac, new = jira"
but it's harder to keep track of trac = bugs, jira = tickets
in IRC we also tend to refer to trac as trac, not as 'bugs', because it makes for much less awkward sentences and tends to be clearer for people who don't know the details of our DNS
nikki
and people are more likely to know that we use trac for svn viewing
rather than specifically knowing that you can view svn on bugs.mb
(which is totally not intuitive :P)
ianmcorvidae
yeah
and anecdotally, when people ask "where's that nice SVN browser thingy" it's usually "hm, I remember the trac SVN browser, but trac.musicbrainz.org didn't work, where was that again?"
warp
hm. printer/scanner device refuses to scan when there are ink cartridges present.
even needs the colour cartridge present, glad I didn't throw that out yet, even though it's empty.
ijabz
ianmcorvidae: I would be happy for you to migrate mmdschema to git, giving me a chance to get comfortable with git before search server is moved to git
warp
we're almost done moving to github I think. let's get that finished first.
djce opens http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBH-287 for trac, assigns to nobody . Looks like just an nginx change.

nikki: That's exactly the process I went through earlier.
"SVN browser is part of trac. Let's try trac.mb.org. Oh...it doesnt't work, I'll pester those nice people on IRC" :)

nikki
luks: I did at least manage to successfully upgrade my non-8.4 db with mbslave :)

hi..i've also tried switching to old version of mb server against new upgraded db..and that version response seems fine..so definitely feel like it's the new code..here's the query i'm testing ../ws/2/artist/79239441-bfd5-4981-a70c-55c3f15c1287

Howdy! I'm currently trying to install and run a musicbrainz mirror, and got stuck on some errors trying to start the server:

Anyone have any idea?
nikki
looks like carton install probably didn't install everything
TMiland
is there a way to check what failed to install?
! Bailing out the installation for Email-Valid-0.190. Retry with --prompt or --force.

hi anyone can help on this?
oh i think i know issue..my nginx is not setup ..nm..
Freso
ianmcorvidae: FWIW, I think everything SVN should just be migrated to Git if it's not too much a hassle. It can be deprecated from there, but it will allow us to still access the source of all-that-is-and-has-been-MB in a uniform way.
What is required to get permissions on Wiki?
TMiland
About the errors i posted, is it okey to just run "carton install --deployment" again?
or do i need to do anything else?
Swarup_
hmm..nginx doesn't seem to be the issue..
nikki
Freso: permissions for what?
TMiland: you could try just carton install

sorry i'm still looking for help on latency issue..is Rob going to be available sometime today?
its really nice to wake up and not have everything burning.
I might have time to get the brakes on my car fixed, so I dont end up killing the core MB team. :)

Hm? You don't think that'd be productive?

warp: do you have a driver's license?
Freso
nikki: In this particular case, I'd like to have moved user:FrederikSOlesen/* to user:Freso/* (I'll do a manual splice of the two root pages eventually and make FSO #redirect to Freso).
warp
ruaok: yes.
ruaok: I drove the last stretch last year

stefans_: are you coming to the summit? I need to pester adrian about last.fm's summit participation.
oh right. :)
that might come in handy to shuttle us back and forth from the wild palms.

ok

I was planning on taking my bike, but with 4 people in the car on the way back, that becomes a major hassle.
ruaok also considers the skates.

hm skates.

ruaok i'd love to come but will be on holiday. however, i suggested to ocharles that i skype into the conference if anyone is interested in hearing about what last.fm has been up to
ruaok
stefans_: bummer. I'd hate to intrude on your holidays though. maybe you can just impart that knowlege on ocharles?
(unless you really want to skype in)
warp: yes, inline skates.
stefans_
i'll share knowledge with ocharles. pretty excited about a skype in tho
ruaok
ok, lets do both.
will you be in the same time-zone as us?
stefans_
i think i'll be +7 or +8 :)
ruaok
ah, quite a ways away.
stefans_
yeah, but it should be doable
ruaok
we better pick a time that works for all of us.
ruaok makes a note to coordinate that as we get closer
stefans_
cool
