ocharles: from the documentation it seems that the output attribute of the exception should contain the entire stdout output. (and stderr as well if you call it like you're describing).

I'm stuck on the import

which of the 7 mbdump*'s should I use

you need the main one, derived and editor

if I use all 7, i get an error during createindexs about an index being invalid, duplicates in key etc

so only need those 3

you don't need the edit one unless you want to search through old edits

will i be missing anything by not using all

yep, don't care about old edits

so all the other 4 are edits?
