CallerNo6 was going to say, probably best to leave it at "thank you m'am"

nikki: how do you do when yo uwant to retrieve news from the real master of metabrainz/musicbrainz-server into your 687168716/mbs fork ? Like the simplest solution ever or something
I don’t care of any local stuff

I thought of just delete my fourchette and re-crate anew
ijabz: it's like an interactive shell for programming in
so you could, say, type 'getArtist("mbid-mbid-mbid-mbid-mbid")' and it would query the database and return an artist object that you can poke around with
much more convenient than having to write a full script, and run that from the command line, then change your script, run it again, etc

ocharles: you copied one of my commits into MBS, is it changing anything if I now delete my MBS fork, is there any problem ?
ah ok great… I feel it’s the easiest way to get the new clean state of MBS if I want to fix some stuff and I don’t care any of my "local" history… Am I right, ocharles ?
ocharles
yes, it's merged now
jesus2099
That’s cool… I really did not know if that breaks any git etiquette or anything like that, you know…

warp: have you used subprocess.check_output before?
I can't figure out if when I do subprocess.check_output(stderr=subprocess.STDOUT) and the process returns a non-zero exit code, that the CalledProcessError output attribute will have anything useful in
warp
ocharles: hm
ocharles: no, I haven't used check_output. it isn't available on python 2.6.
nikki
jesus2099: just vote for a ticket if you want to see it, there's really no need to add +1 as comments
warp
ocharles: from the documentation it seems that the output attribute of the exception should contain the entire stdout output. (and stderr as well if you call it like you're describing).

ruaok: if you are considering java , u should also consider java as it has javas advantages , plus some of the advantages of other languages that java does not have
Anyway Im around this evening if you want to try and sort out search server stuff, but remember Im usually finished by 11 uk time
reosarevok
ijabz: if he's considering java then he's certainly considering java
ijabz
oops, following sentence meant to say u should also consider scala
reosarevok
heh, ok :)
ijabz
Try as I might I just don't seem to see errors in what Ive written till I press ENTER
ocharles
reosarevok: lol
holy fuck carton. WHY ARE YOU SO SLOW
i must have spent an hour now just trying to convince beta to install some dependencies
ruaok
ijabz: I doubt I'll get to the search stuff today. but then again, things have been behaving.
I might just focus on critical stuff today.
ijabz
its up to you, just wondering how you are hadling the issue now, are you autorestarting search every few hours or something ?
Enabling request logging and thread dumps would take 2 minutes
ruaok
I restart every index rotation.
ok, when things act up again, I'll look into it.
lets hope that isn't for a while. :)
ijabz
and its not failing between rotations (coz I thought we had that issue)
ruaok
seems not.
chat more later, but I'm pressed to get to the bank.
