what magic do I need in url for the webservice to fetch the release groups that correspond to /artist/mbid?va=1 on the website?

I have /ws/2/release-group?artist=mbid for the non-v.a. page, but I don't see how I can get the release groups that correspond to the v.a. page

huh, you're right... there is no way to get all the various artist release groups for an artist.

can't abuse the search server to do it either.

/ws/1 has some ability to look up a limited number of various artists *releases* for a user

for an artist*

but nothing for release groups :/

but it only includes the release titles, not rg titles.

it's by design that there is no way to retrieve various artist releases or release groups for an artist on the webservice?

the query is so huge that you can't really have people calling it.

so what, we're supposed to scrape the website?

we used to allow it, but if was a very effective DoS on site

it should be possible to browse them, I think.

nikki: maybe it doesn't apply to NGS. there was something about the mason site that prevented it.

/ws/1 has limited ability to look up various artist releases for an artist - ngs has no ability whatsoever to look them up.

all I'm trying to do is display the same data that's the website shows on the release groups tab for an artist, but this is the latest in a growing list of things I can't seem to do :/

I just started wading through the picard code and I've quite confused about a few things. Anyone got a moment to enlighten me?

One big question I have is why acoustid is called as a gui. I would think it would be much nicer to just use the pyacoustid api directly.

Another question is why not use processing instead of threading to enable multicore performance on fingerprinting, replaygain, etc.
