        Freso: true!
      • Freso
reosarevok: Think of all the important e-mails you're missing out on in that time!!
      • warp
vodafone I wasn't able to figure out
      • reosarevok
Freso: I *guess* you could miss a couple goals, if you were following a football match!
      • Freso isn't even bringing a laptop...
      • Really? *that* sounds a bit too much :p
      • Summits tend to equal everyone behind a laptop :p
      • warp
reosarevok: do you have time to check vodafone.es and see if you can find a prepago data sim which doesn't come with a smartphone or tablet?
      • kepstin-laptop could bring a silly old netbook for people without a laptop ;)
      • Freso
reosarevok: Well, I could bring one... but I wouldn't be able to use it for anything with the screen being broken.
      • ocharles
i don't think Freso will be impacted by not having a laptop
      • it's all about the talking, really
      • warp
ocharles: I'm probably only bringing the eeepc.
      • MBJenkins
oliver.g.charles: Make all relationship edits bidirectional
      • warp
(which is to weak to run musicbrainz and doesn't do wifi well)
      • ocharles
        bidirectional relationship edits \o/
      • and it wasn't too hard to implement \o/
      • warp: yep, I can't see you needing more than that
      • navap reconsiders just bringing his nexus 7
      • warp
        so that's a 7 inch tablet, right?
      • reosarevok
Well, dunno, there was talk of doing some hacking
      • Hacking on tablets and eees sounds... bad
      • djce joined the channel
      • navap
        warp: Yes
      • warp
reosarevok: oh the eeepc is fine for hacking on anything _except_ musicbrainz-server
      • navap: I only recently realized that the N in Nexus N stands for the size of the device.
      • navap
        :)
      • ocharles
        warp: hack on musicbrainz-data! :)
      • warp
        ocharles :)
      • navap
warp: Although that doesn't apply to the nexus one ;)
      • reosarevok
heh, yeah, was going to say
      • warp
navap: i'm sure that one was really tiny!

Oh, and regading wifi at the apartment... remember what happened last year when the wifi didn't work?
      • I think we had over 10 people all sharing one cell connection :)
      • Or maybe it was two cellphones
      • kepstin-laptop
is there a wired connection available? or just wireless?
      • warp
        kepstin-laptop: usually it's just wireless.

      • kepstin-laptop: oh, I was going to check if we should meet up,.. but you moved to friday now :)
      • navap: so it's just us for the whole day until everyone else arrives in the evening.
      • navap
        Yup
      • Si senor*
      • warp
hah, how much spanish do you know?
      • navap
        See above :)
      • ruaok
        lol
      • warp
        :)
      • ruaok
        morning!
      • warp
        hola ruaok
      • que tal?
      • nikki
        ruaok: book arrived btw
      • ruaok
warp: when I was in school, my teachers assured me that no one used the "que tal" question.
      • perhaps not in mexico, but everywhere else they sure do. :)
      • nikki: awesome.
      • warp puts stuff for CatCat and nikki near his suitcase.
      • nikki
        for me?
      • warp
ruaok: it's pretty common in ecuador.
      • nikki: your mouse + .ec centavo coins.
      • ruaok
warp: I heard it a bunch of tims in .co
      • I also still have some .co money, if you want that nikki
      • nikki
        ooooh yes!
      • nikki doesn't have any south american money yet
      • warp
ruaok: "como esta" is more common though.
      • kepstin-laptop
warp: yeah - forgot to check my arrival date, and just wrote down the departure date :)
      • ruaok
warp: yep. and a simple hola
      • warp
ruaok: haha, united had similar issues with their in-flight entertainment. had to be rebooted twice during my flight to schiphol.
      • warp just noticed the google plus photo
      • navap
So I've decided I won't bring my laptop and will just use my nexus 7 when needed
      • Which means all I have is one duffel bag, makes things a lot easier

      • Pets. No Pets.
      • heh
      • nikki
that was the one I was originally looking at before we changed the date
      • (since if it'd been next week, the wednesday flight would have been a lot cheaper than the thursday one)
      • Freso
ruaok: It really does look interesting.
      • I'll have to keep it in mind if I ever set up hitchhiking down there or otherwise travel to BCN for some other occassion. :)
      • kepstin-laptop
arg, my stupid university wireless is failing again.
      • I can use IRC, but can't reliably send emails or browse the web? it's really weird :(
      • kepstin-laptop stayed in http://www.crashpadchattanooga.com/ once - that was kind of interesting.
      • Bookle
What is the quickest way to get from a recording to it's release group? Currently I go recording->track->tracklist->medium->release->release_group but that seems pretty inefficient...
      • ijabz
bookie i think that is what you have to do
      • Bookle
        hmm, well that's unfortunate. thanks
      • reoafk joined the channel
      • I guess my real issue is that I can't determine directly from a recording what type it is I have to go to recording group type to find out if it was an interview for example
      • release group type*
      • which means I have to do 8 joins :/
      • warp
the release group type doesn't really tell you that either.
      • kepstin-laptop
Bookle: remember, a recording can be on multiple releases!
      • so it could be on both an album and a single, for example
      • warp
and you can obviously have track/recording which is an interview on a release with many songs (i.e. not interviews)
      • +a
      • the release group type is meant to describe the release as a whole
      • Bookle
warp: yes, that's the problem - there is nothing that accuraterly describes an individual recording's type
      • ocharles
Bookle: and what is wrong with 8 joins?
      • kepstin-laptop would not be adverse to having recording types - the question is just what goes in them.
      • Bookle
ocharles: amount of time it takes to execute
      • ocharles
        Bookle: i don't believe that
      • prove it.
      • Bookle
        what do you mean?
      • ocharles
I don't believe that 8 joins are inherently slow
      • or more, that there is any reason to be alarmed at 8 joins
      • Bookle
kepstin-laptop: well to start with , identify a recording as an interview :)
      • kepstin-laptop
Bookle: I actually wanted them for karaoke recordings, but yeah :)
      • live would also be good
      • Bookle
ocharles: give me a sec and I'll try to pastebin mething... maybe I'm going wrong elsewhere
      • kepstin-laptop
hmm. anyways, should I be bringing a sleeping bag or something with me to the summit?
      • warp
kepstin-laptop: I think a few people will have to bring their sleeping bag, but there hasn't been any coordination as to who is bringing a sleeping bag and who isn't.
      • it also isn't clear to me how many people need to bring a sleeping bag :)
      • Bookle
      • ocharles
Bookle: ok, that looks fine to me
      • Bookle
should get all recordings that are linked to a release group with a type of live, interview, or recording
      • kepstin-laptop
Bookle: some recordings aren't linked to any release groups at all :)
      • ocharles
kepstin-laptop: those also lack the information that bookle needs
      • Bookle
but I've had that running for 10 hours or so and no result
      • ocharles
then you should run explain on it and see what the plan is
      • Bookle
        kepstin-laptop: yup that's fine
      • ocharles
but note that is going to take a bit of time because you're going to get potentially millions of results (and you haven't made it distinct on recording.id or anything)
      • Freso
kepstin-laptop: I think, if you have room for a sleeping bag, bring it.
      • Bookle
yeah I realized the bit about distinct later, maybe that's the issue
      • Freso
It's better to have one too many, than one too few.
      • ocharles
the distinct will only be slower, probably (because distinct usually means sort & filter all results)
      • but run an explain and see what the plan is
      • Bookle
        ok
      • Freso
ruaok: Where are you seated Zürich-BCN?
      • Freso is picking seats now
      • I want to make sure I'm not too close to you.
      • Nevermind. Seems like there was only one good available seat.
      • ruaok

      • ruaok
        I forget exactly where
      • sounds dangerously close to me
      • Freso
        Damn.
      • Looks like my CPH-ZRH will be rather empty, while ZRH-BCN is rather crowded.
      • So hopefully people won't notice.
      • ruaok sends out the important pick-pocket email

      • warp
ruaok: ah yikes. that is another good reason not to bring any expensive electronics.
      • Freso
      • ruaok
well, this is more about not carrying them around needlessly.
      • Freso: read more, ask less.
      • warp
ruaok: sure. but I'm going to be walking around barcelona for quite a bit on thursday and monday
