warp: re 'only' 30 minutes - that build on master didn't have html5 tests enabled
      • i just want to get a release out

warp: also, just to fill you in on the relationship stuff (and give myself a paper trail :P) - you have to relate between trees because: if there is a relationship AB between A and B, then presumably A should link to the latest version of B (the latest name etc) and vica versa
      • but if you change A -> A', then you would also need to change the relationship AB to A'B, which would have to be done by changing B too.
      • So basically, for every entity with relationships, any edit now also changes all the end points (if you link between trees)
      • if however you have 2 relationships, A|B| and |A|B (where |x| means just the MBID of |x|) then you don't have these problems
      • warp
        and |A||B| ? :)

      • ianmcorvidae, ocharles: I've patched edit 19433467, so modbot should be happy again for a little bit.
      • ocharles
warp: |A||B| doesn't have the information to say who owns the relationship
      • (there would be no way to delete the relationship in a specific version)
      • warp
ocharles: yes, that would be the point of doing it that way. so the relationship is versioned seperately from the artists it relates.
      • ocharles: I can think of various reasons why that wouldn't work very well, but I'm curious if you gave it any thought.

Can take my labtop to Spain and back no problem, then next day starts fucking up
      • you having problems as well freso
      • Freso
ijabz: I've had problems since Thursday :)
      • ijabz
On mine neither trackpad nor mouse work properly, using a mac without a keyboard is really difficult
      • whats your issue ?
      • Of course i meant using with only a keyboard
      • Freso
I think the issue is that my partition numbers have gotten rearranged.
      • So it can't find /dev/sda5, which is the Linux install's root partition.
      • Plus, it can't boot from USB and apparently refuses to boot from CD/DVD too.
      • Which makes it hard to get stuff fixed. :)
      • luks
don't all linux distros use uuids for mounts now?
      • Freso
And it seems to lose connection with keyboard between boot loader and system startup.
      • luks: They can.
      • Freso usually uses labels, but apparently didn't when he made this install 2-3 years ago.

      • warp
        ocharles: arrived at the office?
      • ocharles
freso: aha! so my hypothesis was correct
      • warp: yea
      • Freso
ocharles: I've no idea. I still haven't been able to access the file system to try and fiddle with the identifiers.
      • ocharles
warp: oh, yes, relationships have been considered for separate versioning. I don't think it would (or could) work very well
      • Freso
ocharles: I'm currently downloading a FUSE and ext2/3 driver (which will hopefully allow mounting ext4 too, as the ext4 driver for Mac/FUSE apparently isn't working too well).
      • ocharles: If that won't work, I'll do as ianmcorvidae suggested and install virtalbox and try via that.
      • warp
        ocharles: ok, good :)
      • ocharles
isn't that what I suggested on friday? :)
      • warp: we should release, anyway
      • reosarevok
        ocharles, the British Cassandra :p
      • ?
      • warp
        ocharles: yes.
      • ocharles
reosarevok: yes, I won't be able to do that
      • reosarevok
        :(
      • Is there anyone in last.fm we could ask for it?
      • warp
ocharles: alright, I'm on lenny, ready for releasing.
      • ocharles
reosarevok: I don't know, need to release now
      • reosarevok
        sure
      • ocharles
        warp: k, go ahead
      • warp
        I took astro out.
      • Freso
ocharles: Heh. It might've been you. :)
      • ocharles
        warp astro done
      • warp
        ocharles: astro back, pingu out.
      • ocharles
hmm, we'll need to sort the new DBDefs out at some point too..
      • warp
        ah, right.
      • you don't want to do that now?
      • ocharles
        i didn't on astro
      • lets just do the update, and then I'll look into it
      • warp
        ok, np
      • ocharles
        pingu done
      • ianmcorvidae
well, it should probably be now, otherwise we'll get to restart all those servers
      • warp
        ianmcorvidae: which is fine.
      • ianmcorvidae
any release page with an ASIN linked crashes without fixing DBDefs
      • ocharles
        that's less fine
      • warp
        oh? that's not good :)
      • ianmcorvidae
yes, because the relevant function takes an argument, and we're changing DBDefs::BLAH to DBDefs->BLAH, and understandably it can't do much with HASH(0xWHATEVER)
      • ocharles
well, i'll go in and try and fix the DBDefs now
      • ianmcorvidae
just sticking a 'shift' at the start of the two relevant functions fixes it, or adding 'use DBDefs::Default;' and commenting out the two
      • warp
        ocharles: still on pingu, right?
      • ocharles
pingu is 'done', but I guess I should fix the DBDefs first
      • ianmcorvidae
(AWS_ASSOCIATE_ID and COVER_ART_ARCHIVE_UPLOAD_PREFIXER are the two)
      • warp
ocharles: I'm going to wait with bringing anything up/down until you say so :)
      • ocharles
meh, I can't edit that file via tramp
      • warp: done with astro
      • pingu
      • warp
        cool
      • ocharles: pingu back, and I've taken astro out again.
      • ocharles
        warp: astro restarted
      • warp
        ok, asterix is out
      • ocharles
warp: ok, all done there too
      • warp
        great, all back.
      • things are looking good just clicking around a bit.
      • ocharles: ok, I'm going to run off to babysit the neighbours' kids for 15 minutes or so. if something did break, call/text me. I should be back soonish.
      • ocharles
ocharles has changed the topic to: tropical week! | http://musicbrainz.org/#devel | Meeting: reviews, test/build times (ocharles)
      • Freso
      • reosarevok
      • Freso
Meh. The FUSE thing is working very smoothly. I think I'll just go straight to the virtualbox to try and sort things.
      • If nothing else, that'll at least actually give me a Linux environment...
      • reosarevok: That's not very tropical though...
      • reosarevok
Well, depends on how cold the place the space invaders come is, it might feel tropical to them!
      • warp returns.
      • Freso
        Welcome home!
      • Er, back.

warp: we need to restart servers; I've fixed all the DBDefs though
      • ianmcorvidae goes to get some cake that's here at the office :P
      • warp
        otra vez?
      • ianmcorvidae
        hm?
      • warp
        :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        yes
      • because you two only got one of the two things that needed fixing :) so cover art uploads are broken
      • warp
        ah
      • ianmcorvidae
trying to upload to HASH(0xBLAH).s3.archive.org doesn't do so well
      • warp
alright, let me know if you need me to drive proxies again, etc..
      • ianmcorvidae
fix is just commenting out the line and using the default from DBDefs::Default, of course, but the servers need restarting
      • once ocharles is back I'll get him to do the actual restarts
      • warp
        ok
      • ocharles
        warp: ok, ready
      • warp
        ocharles: yay!
      • ocharles: shall I take out servers again?
      • ocharles
        yea
      • warp
        alright
      • astro is out

      • warp
        ocharles: astro back, pingu out.
      • reosarevok
ruaok: I've retweeted that from MHD etc
      • But I'll try to remember to post it myself in the evening too
      • ruaok
        reosarevok: ah, great.
      • ianmcorvidae
MTF and MHD tweeted about it this morning, yeah
      • ocharles
        warp: ok, done
      • warp
        ocharles: pingu back, asterix out
      • adhawkins
I've been meaning to ask this for ages. On my server, when I visit the web page I get a sidebar down the right hand side with loads of (I assume) developer related stuff.
      • I can dismiss it, but is there any way to stop it coming up forever?
      • nikki
something in DBDefs with CATALYST in the name iirc
      • ocharles
        warp: ok, done
