Good time-of-day! I'm trying to download the full dump of the musicbrainz db from ftp://ftp.musicbrainz.org/pub/musicbrainz/data/... but seeing checksum failures for a few files

the gpg signatures for those files are showing up BAD as well

just wanted to pop in and see if someone else has seen this before I try downloading again

I grabbed the -editor one (since it's the smallest that failed for you) and it's also ok here

then i installed a fresh wheezy and followed your current git INSTALL doc and another one too, and i'm stuck at running plackup

I'm afraid not - the INSTALL doc has always worked for me

my fresh wheezy couldn't handle it

but i did battle for a few days on the vms so i was already quite annoyed and looked at all the other docs around..

there's the cpanm snapshot file thing that is obviously broken in the doc

but it's an easy fix, or at least it seems to be

i had to cpanm some missing libs before i got that final error

have you looked at /home/musicbrainz/.cpanm/work/1424424472.3264/build.log ?

missing libs couldn't be "loaded" so installed them manually, but here it doesn't seem that it's missing something

The search server is a separate server, so you need to actually install it if you haven't

I know someone had some issue a few weeks ago about the mb android app not working with new maven

never installed so many java packages, kind of scary

completely different, but there were problems

wait until you actually run mvn, it downloads a whole bunch more ;)

quick question, why does the search server require a freedb database ?

it doesn’t require it.

its optional.

"You will also need a freedb dump, which you can download from" doesn't sound optional to me, but i've not read the full documentation before starting so..

I'd imagine it should work without it, but just fail if you try the freedb search

But yeah, if that's the case, that sentence is confusing :)

i tried vbox vm "converted" to qemu and couldn't get the db or the search to work

the db kind of worked, i could searc the reseales and relsease groups but couldn't see the artists or search them

here i've installed from scratch in a debian wheezy 64bit qemu

so far so good, installing the search server now

oh, I don't have the json for the original dump. is that a huge problem? we could always recreate it from the db
