no shell, serial, just broke one day and had to get it replaced, wifi drops all connections and forces reauth every 20 minutes or so if you use it as an AP

I suspect if you /just/ used it to play music, and didn't care about everything else it'd be more or less fine

note that you can use https://www.mopidy.com/ + pi + your spotify account (or music files on disk)

but the "just broke" is kind a deal breaker.

the only thing that the gramofon gives you is the "spotify connect"

where you can send music/control it from tablet or laptop

which is key, really.

well, mopidy has a web interface, for example

so, I believe it's the cheapest spotify connect device that doesn't have built-in speakers

this might be a perfect application for one of my A+s.

ruaok alastairp: FWIW, there are several different web interfaces for mopidy, not withstanding MPD (web) interfaces. mopidy can also communicate using MPRIS, so MPRIS interfaces will also work. And if you don't like those, 1) they're happy to accept patches :), and 2) mopidy is completely open and you can hack together your own interface.

They'd be happy to help with any of those in #mopidy ;)

(Also, the mopidy devs are MusicBrainz fans, for what *that's* worth. :))

mpris looks interesting. I'm cautiously optimistic, but can't say I have high hopes

Anyway, if you have something specific you think don't work with them, at least please file an issue with them so they can improve. :)
