we have a dell SC1435 server that has an amber light flashing on the front panel. specifically is led #5 is blinking.

      • ruaok
        WTF does it mean?

      • navap
Do the 1,2,3,4 lights have an error code?
      • 2009-10-20 29321, 2009

      • ruaok
        no.

Have you looked at the ESM hardware log?
      • 2009-10-20 29319, 2009

      • navap
There are also some diagnostic utilities on dell's site. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/drivers…

      • ruaok
ESM hardware log? how do I that?
      • 2009-10-20 29338, 2009

      • navap
To access the hardware log, click System, click the Logs tab, and click Hardware.
      • 2009-10-20 29313, 2009

      • ruaok
that is assuming you're willing to take the machine out of production and run their shitty diagnostics.
      • 2009-10-20 29324, 2009

      • ruaok
why does have to be so freaking difficult?
      • 2009-10-20 29333, 2009

      • ruaok
        utter dell fail.
      • 2009-10-20 29302, 2009

      • navap
Can you access the logs without taking it out of production?
      • 2009-10-20 29327, 2009

      • ruaok
unless I can get something that runs on ubuntu, no.
      • 2009-10-20 29331, 2009

      • ruaok
but that shouldn't be the point.

all I need to know is the damn led mearning.

        ffs
      • 2009-10-20 29331, 2009

      • navap
Well from what I've read, the amber light means there should be something listed in the ESM log.
      • 2009-10-20 29355, 2009

      • ruaok
I guess then we need to find a way to read the ESM log under ubuntu
      • 2009-10-20 29344, 2009

      • navap
What is the alternative? What "should" you be using?

aCiD2: would it be possible to not remove the tracks/mediums from the page when dragging them? the more I play about with it the less I like it doing that :/
      • 2009-10-20 29334, 2009

      • nikki
because I can't think of anything else where dragging something removes it from where it was originally while you're dragging it
      • 2009-10-20 29338, 2009

      • nikki
        if that makes sense :o
      • 2009-10-20 29306, 2009

      • nikki
and what does "drag and drop isn't setting anything" mean?
      • 2009-10-20 29318, 2009

      • aCiD2
nikki: it doesn't set an input field, so it's meaningless at the moment
      • 2009-10-20 29330, 2009

      • aCiD2
so you think a copy is more intuitive?
      • 2009-10-20 29333, 2009

      • aCiD2
        I can probably do that
      • 2009-10-20 29301, 2009

      • warp
hm, I don't think nikki meant that. but I have no idea what this is about, so my er.. insight doesn't count. ;)

      • 2009-10-20 29312, 2009

      • nikki
that would also get rid of this bug I found where clicking on the last track/medium makes it disappear :P
      • 2009-10-20 29316, 2009

      • navap
I can't get it to work at all though. The medium reordering was working for me but then I think Cycles` released another updated and it stopped working for me.
      • 2009-10-20 29327, 2009

      • nikki

      • 2009-10-20 29358, 2009

      • 2009-10-20 29305, 2009

      • navap
When it was working I noticed that if there was only one tracklist, clicking the medium number hid the whole tracklist. Poof!
      • 2009-10-20 29315, 2009

      • nikki
yeah, that's the bug I found
      • 2009-10-20 29322, 2009

      • nikki

(the track one is still there though)
      • 2009-10-20 29345, 2009

      • 2009-10-20 29339, 2009

      • navap
hm? They don't disappear for me. Unless you just mean when they're being clicked and dragged.
      • 2009-10-20 29351, 2009

      • nikki
they do in opera and firefox for me
      • 2009-10-20 29307, 2009

      • navap
Are you sure they just didn't get added to the bottom of the last track list?
      • 2009-10-20 29312, 2009

      • nikki
it has to be the last track though, like I said
      • 2009-10-20 29321, 2009

      • 2009-10-20 29355, 2009

      • navap
Yeah in the dev chat I think.
      • 2009-10-20 29315, 2009

      • navap
That must have been the update that stopped the medium reordering working.
      • 2009-10-20 29349, 2009

      • navap
15:07:42 <aCiD2> The editor now supports adding new tracks and *almost* adding new mediums. You can lookup existing tracklists, drag them, and then watch it break. The desired behaviour will be to drag them into the mediums above
      • 2009-10-20 29355, 2009

      • nikki
        ah
      • 2009-10-20 29331, 2009

      • nikki
btw, can you think of a way to integrate a non-drag-and-drop way of moving things? I'm guessing it would ask for a position number and move it there, but I can't think of a way to put this "move to position ..." thingy in the page that makes sense
      • 2009-10-20 29358, 2009

      • navap
I thought we had decided to right-align the release event info? They're back left-aligned.
      • 2009-10-20 29319, 2009

      • nikki
I like it more how it is :/ there's too little space there as it is
      • 2009-10-20 29339, 2009

      • navap
I would prefer a point(/drag) and click option, not one that involces typing a position number.
      • 2009-10-20 29349, 2009

      • nikki
        hmm
      • 2009-10-20 29346, 2009

      • nikki can't decide...
      • 2009-10-20 29337, 2009

      • navap
Would medium reordering be easier if, when you started to drag, the various mediums shrunk to one line? Or perhaps have a toggle so that the tracklists aren't constantly showing/hiding if you're doing more than one move.
      • 2009-10-20 29345, 2009

      • navap
Does "Minimize the height changing when clicking on a medium title" make sense?
      • 2009-10-20 29315, 2009

      • nikki
I do think there should be *some* way of doing it without drag and drop though, I find drag and drop hard enough with a trackpad as it is
      • 2009-10-20 29329, 2009

      • nikki
"minimise the height changing" doesn't make much sense to me
      • 2009-10-20 29311, 2009

      • navap
Drag and drop is a pretty integral part of any GUI OS I think, it may be hard for a trackpad user, but it's not something new.
      • 2009-10-20 29334, 2009

      • nikki
but it's not the only way to do something
      • 2009-10-20 29348, 2009

      • warp rarely uses drag and drop.
      • 2009-10-20 29318, 2009

      • nikki
        when do you use it?
      • 2009-10-20 29326, 2009

      • warp
have to use it in picard, and it's the easiest way to install a network printer in windows. that's about it I think.
