the next time I write a web service, it will require developers to put their necks in a mechanism that allows me to throttle them awake to pay attention to what we're saying.

the only thing I can really think of is creating new mbids when a disc from a multi-disc release is looked up, adding them to the gid redirect table (with a new medium column) and then if a release lookup in /ws/1 is a redirect for a specific medium, only return that medium (with "(disc n)" appended to the title)
