djce offers: rewriterules
in case I get disonnected due to my shoddy net connection, warp will take over

warp: start us off on review, please
murdos joined the channel
warp
the biggest things I've worked on the past week was the taglookup page
and getting credits on the release page
both of those are in code review.
ruaok
nice.
warp
other than that small stuff, ux discussions and gsoc stuff.
ruaok
we need to remember to add a redirect for the tagger lookup page.
yeah, UX nearly killed me last week.
and you're doing WS stuff in the next week?
aCiD2
all of us :)
ruaok
aCiD2: yes. :)
warp
ruaok: well, most of my remaining tickets either depend on UX stuff, or random other stuff which is waiting for a ship it! in code review.
ruaok
I'll see if I can get some code reviewed on the train tomorrow.
aCiD2
if CR is blocking you, please pester me more
i might be able to fit some cr in when I take a break from revision
warp
ruaok: so I moved onto webservice stuff because that's not touching anything which is waiting for something else :)
ruaok can see warp reach for his tran-channel prod
ruaok
warp: ok, makes sense. and there is a lot of it too. ;)
right-o. aCiD2 how was your week?
aCiD2
my week was a bit crappy i'm afraid. I've had to let revision and uni take priority again now, and on top of that I went through some rocky personal problems
i got a little bit of work done, but I really don't have much to report :(
ruaok
well, I hope the personal issues are not too dire.
warp
aCiD2: nothing was serious enough that it couldn't wait until this meeting, but yes, plz comment on some code review stuff :)
aCiD2
i'm hoping I can get about 2-3 hours a day in from now on but that really is the top end given the amount of revision I have to do
ruaok
but the uni situation is not anything we didn't expect, so don't stress. :)
aCiD2
right, and the personal stuff is subsiding slowly :)
warp
\o/
ruaok
:)
my weeks was uhm, a strange one.
navap, warp, alisa and I a tremendous amount of work to figure out the user interaction design for the release editor
as some of you know, alisa is a student who was considering helping us on UX issues for GSoC.
but she doesn't write code, so in the end killed her participation.
but, she is agree to help us regardless.
in exchange for some food and chocolate. :)
aCiD2
a fair compromise
ruaok
I'm quite happy with what we're accomplishing. we've never looked at UI design with so much ferocity.
pronik
ruaok: any document to critisize? ;)
ruaok
BUT, the UI issues still haven't converged. there are a lot of diverging topics and suggestions of starting with a new approach.
pronik: not yet.
but from the wave that we stated last week we got a good sense of what is important and what is not acceptable.
we're working hard to address those. sadly is two steps forward, one step back.
warp nods.
but our plan is to come up with a draft of what it *should* look like.
a first unified attempt. then we'll get feedback from everyone. based on the feedback from everyone we will:
1. Go back and sequester ourselves some more.
2. or widen the distribution for a greater audience.
I suspect that we'll be in the loop of #1 for a few iterations.
the biggest problem with the wave were that we lost control and had too many cooks.
that said, I need to touch base with navap to continue this drama. He's been a superstar in taking this one and running with it, while enduring alisa and I. :)
aCiD2
and we went in with too many ideas
warp
:)
ruaok
and then starting friday I started my meandering journey that left me here in delft.
a 45 minute bike ride from warp's house. ;)
warp
he's been there since sunday and he still hasn't visited, tsk, lazy.
ruaok
each day this week I'm visiting someone who is, was is will be important to MusicBrainz, as well as trying to get some work done.
aCiD2
ha
warp
awesome.
ruaok
I hear you're having circle parties all week, so I am avoiding you.
warp
lol
ruaok
oh and yes, it looks like I will make another trip to the BBC during my 22 hour layover next week.
there seems to be... wait for it...
another shake-up.
ruaok does a face palm and cries a little
aCiD2
bbc are about as regular as a woman, gotta be said
ruaok
just 6 months instead of 28 days.
aCiD2
yep
ijabz joined the channel
ruaok
ok, thats it for me.
who else wants to chime in?
ruaok looks south, north and east of him.
murdos, ijabz?
djce?
ok, onward. gsoc.
the apps are in. we're looking at them. we're trying to achieve fecal cohesion.
warp, aCiD2: we should have a meeting sometime this week to discuss. we'll pick a date later.
warp nods.
any other questions/comments on gsoc?
EXBreder
When will the results be out?
jensl
24.
aCiD2
sounds good
ruaok
ok, onward to ux design.
EXBreder resumes lurking
I think I covered most of it. there isn't much to discuss until the cabal emits its first ruling.
djce: rewrite rules!
warp nods.
ruaok has changed the topic to: agenda, rewrite rules, linkphrases, ponies!
djce
hey. just in time.
djce back.
So, the rewriterules we'll require for NGS fall into a few categories,
depending on the purpose of the rule,
and some of those need to be sorted out by an NGS core dev person I think.
