what can I do for ye, Leftmost?

it's always like that at autechre, everytime I've seen them. but this is the first time I've seen it announced and that the bar is closed.

I find myself in a position where putting in the required work to put together a decent application for GSoC would really screw with uni for me. I've got two exams tomorrow and a major conference presentation next week.

As such, I'm going to withdraw my application.

Right. I'd really like to improve it, but at this juncture I just have to prioritize school.

I'm starting to focus on my exams now too, as they are just over 2 weeks away

the application is important, but we don't judge these things solely on that.

for example your participation here on irc also counts, etc..

Well, if you think I should leave the application in, I can edit it with some of the things we've talked about. (Scoping up, etc.)

I've got a bit of scheduling done and some thoughts on the ordering/structure of work as well, which I can add.

Leftmost: yes, if your timeconstraints are just for now.. and you're free to work during the normal SOC schedule in the summer months

Yeah. The semester is over in early May and I'm not taking summer courses.

I certainly wouldn't let some time constraints in the application period put you off and withdrawing

I'll get some of that stuff worked into the application at lunch today.

hrm, now LWP cannot reach my search server, but curl/wget/browser can.

warp: what would you think about using something like django for the proposal tracking system...?

warp: I'm suggesting that framework, because it's written in Python, and I understand integrating co-ment in isn't that bad on a python framework like Django

If my mentor would like to have this implemented in pure java and not use jqtouch g<whatevergluelayer> I would agree to do this in java.

or, better yet. adjust your proposal to simply say that you're doing it in java.

we're generally disutrustful of those toolkits that generate code.

we even do not need mobile optimized pages, once finished with android it is not more than 4 weeks work to port it to the iphone (excluding barcode)

one last thing concerning the proposal, before i came up with the idea of mobile optimized pages, someone suggested the idea on the mailing list to deploy the barcode scanning stuff as an openintent, what do you think about this?

openintent allows others to initiate the barcode submit process?

yes definitely, everything has to be ajaxified and the editor destroyed the whole layout of my proposal

I know that melange is an ongoing source of frustration. :(

apparently the gsoc proposal editor adds arbitrary line spacing and formatting even if you specify the layout in html :/

ruaok: I got my server up and running again. I used a pre-quality collumn commit to import my data and then I pulled from core.git to update.

But now when I browse a release group page I get quality column errors, but test doesn't have those errors.

ruaok: I had trouble importing the database too, earlier this week.

(I ended up just doing a checkout from february with the dump from january, because that seemed 'known good' to me :)

yeah, the quality commit on master is what kills it.

sadly I don't have time to do another import.
