I thought it best to just mention where the functionality of those files now lie, just in case people thought it odd I was going around deleting files ;)

warp is in 80x25
on the new box?
warp
yes
alastairp
nice
ruaok
do tell, warp! whatchagot?
warp
debian stable didn't like it much. but the current debian testing snapshot netinstall .iso worked.
alastairp
grep ^processor /proc/cpuinfo|wc -l
warp
alastairp: I don't even have gnu screen yet to copy paste that here.
ruaok
lol
alastairp
it's only a single number :)
warp
ah
8
alastairp
nice
ruaok
8 cores?
alastairp
4 + HT?
ruaok
or dual quad?
warp
core i7
i'm guessing what alastairp said
I only plugged one cpu into the motherboard.
ruaok
yep HT
warp
2800 MHz
ruaok: I ordered a white case, so I could stick that musicbrainz sticker on it. but sadly that case wasn't in stock and I swapped it for a black one.
ruaok
why can't you put it on the black one?
warp
doesn't look very nice :)
ruaok
ah.
ruaok has a different sense of aethetics.
warp
:)
ruaok
over lunch I was talking about how there is an art to mismatching socks.
there are combinations that don't work and ones that doe.
do
I mismatch socks, so I have no problem sticking a white sticker on a black puter
:)
warp
I remember seth godin mentioning there is a company somewhere marketing socks to teenage girl, and they come in packs of 3 different socks (not pairs).
girls
ruaok
yep.
my doctor got some for xmas. she proudly wore them the day I came in.
warp
:D
ruaok
(I think those socks are lame, but that is just me)
alastairp: remember the guy whom you gave my number to at hack day? songkick?
he contacted me re the blog post.
now that's 5 concert data providers.
hmmm.
alastairp
oh, cool
warp
:D
ruaok
I do like the piece of feedback that someone left...
alastairp
I heard something about songkick recently?
"we're now the biggest event provider"? or something
ruaok
instead of selling them the right to provide us with concert info, we should just sell them data licenses. and those who want to provide concert info, can.
warp
ruaok: sounds good, yeah.
simple.
alastairp
oh yeah
ruaok
it removes the potential for conflicts with the tax authorties here.
alastairp
is there a problem with that?
ruaok
we have stated two form of income that we got a tax exempt OK on.
if that changes we have to square that away with them.
alastairp
ah
ruaok
donations and data licenses.
so, if we keep selling data licenses, we're in the clear.

ruaok: I'm taking a look at the registration page and would like to change the Big Bold Scary Text a little :)
MusicBrainz has one account type for all users, including artists, labels and end users. If you represent an artist trying to correct your metadata, create an account here.
navap
I'm going to bold the entire thing except for "Please read our.."
have you guys seen that recent talk about more prose-like registration forms?
"Hello, my name is [ ] and my email address is [ ]. Please create me an account with password [ ]"
ruaok
sounds like something for sissies. like Muz.
navap
That sounds a bit childish doesn't it?
ruaok
:-)
alastairp
rofl
I think they were ruby coders
ruaok
nuff said.
scheiss warmduscher...
navap
I think most people are very used to filling in forms that if you suddenly turned a registration form into a "paint by colour" page things would turn ugly :p
alastairp
navap: according to their statistics it was better
ruaok
lol
alastairp
I think they did an A/B test
pronik
alastairp: it was said they had a better turnaround rate, BUT I think it's not MusicBrainz' aim to make as many registrations as possible
warp
alastairp: I liked the way _they_ did that, but it's easy to mess up.
alastairp
pronik: true
ruaok
registration forms do appear to be a major stumbling block for some people.
pronik
rather active users and maybe even some registration-free collaboration
ruaok
they cause a lot of people to lose interest fast.
navap
Anyone have a link to this?
alastairp
wow
pronik
alastairp: wow about what?
alastairp
just saw that create account page.
it's, uh, busy
navap
Ours?
ruaok
more like a fustercluck. :)
pronik reads http://www.expatsoftware.com/articles/2010/03/why-internationalization-is-hopelessly.html and wonders about how people manage to talk about i18n and barely scratch the surface
"and incidentally how much smarter the GNU folks are than, say, you. And why you should be using emacs."
lol
warp
emacs makes me cry.
ruaok
I always thought that emacs stood for "eight megs and continually swapping"
until I saw that vi was taking 24M of ram one day. :)
then again, that saying is... erm dated.
pronik
emacs saves me a lot of time at work :)
ruaok tries to not sound like the suspender-unix-beard guy from Dilbert.
especially compared to co-workers typing their perl code in eclipse + epic plugin
you know, indenting by HAND
instead of pressing tab somewhere in a line and have it align automagically
warp
both perl modes I have here for emacs indent some things the wrong way.
alastairp
ruaok: you're worrying about 24megs of ram?
pronik
warp: cperl-mode works fine for me
ruaok
alastairp: that saying comes from back in the day when computers had 8 megs of ram. :)
pronik
the one supplied with 23.1 emacs
Muz
ruaok: I objerct to that statement about it being for sissies. It doesn't have anywhere near enough ponies.
thought when I attempt to load a row from that I get:
Attribute (last_modified) does not pass the type constraint because: Validation failed for 'DateTime' failed with value 2009-06-18 02:15:30.437431+00 (not isa DateTime)
actually the problem is lastmodifed not, date_added, which is strange since they are defined to both be the same.
what magic incantation do I need to get the code to load the dates?
aCiD2
can you paste your entity and model?
and while you do that, can anyone clarify http://gist.github.com/328484 ? Murdos says I broke a load of shit, but upgrade.sh seems to run for me
