their android music store that they demoed at their dev conference was pretty cool
navap
Do you see a search box though? No matter what I enter in that box when I press enter the contents are replaced with Lady Gaga.
alastairp
ah, right
yeah, you're right

here is a question that I haven't found an easy google answer for:
If you want to have 8 cores, is it better to go with dual proc quad core or single proc octo-core?
I'd think the 2x4 would be better then 1x8... but I'm not sure.
alastairp
lots of independent tasks?
or one big massive multithreaded monster that is likely to destroy tokyo if it ever got loose?
(not my words)
ruaok
hosting web sites. :)

seriously, Im wondering if I should buy 1x8 or 2x4 1U servers.
8-core 8GB 1U Sata-Raid-1 is the sweet spot for us I think.
alastairp
I've had a few people suggest that more sockets is probably better
and cheaper, too
what CPU family is it? nehalem-ex?
ruaok
I hadn't even gotten that far yet.
the options for things out there is just STAGGERING.
but amd seems to have fallen behind in the server market.
the offerings are pretty slim

so the get collection /ws/1 call gives just a list of release ids, and you need to look them up after that to get more info
is it planned to do the same for /2?
is it possibly too resource heavy to give release/artist info too (did I hear someone say they have 27 pages of releases?)
djce
FAO anyone deploying stuff to lingling (the test server): disk space is low. (And yes, it's a relatively small disk). Please clear some stuff up if possible, or nominate a new Nagios alert threshold (currently warn/crit at 6000MB/4500MB free; and we're at 3800MB free)

(I have a 2gb postgres dump in ~/ )

cool

djce: the release editor may also be causing huge sessions to stick around, I'm not sure how those are supposed to be getting pruned
djce
It's now just "warning", not "critical"... sounds like the thresholds should be raised too.
oooh, lots of large, deleted files still in use by lucene.
that won't help.
warp
djce: there is also a dump in /tmp/dump from april, it isn't mine but I assume that can go too.
djce
yeah, but the lucene stuff dwarfs that :-)
if someone could restart the lucene server that would free up a lot of space, I think.
warp
ok :)
I don't know much about the lucene server, probably better if ruaok does that then.
djce
ok
looks like that's using 11GB of deleted files.
nikki
err...
everyone's subscriptions seem to be public now
warp
nikki: eep, that's not supposed to happen.
nikki
indeed
the preference is still set to private, it seems that the code is confused
nikki wonders if "log out" is needed both under the username and next-but-one to the username...
warp
nikki: the subscription issue should be fixed on test.
nikki: I think it's OK if 'log out' dissapears from there.
I think it's a bit confusing that whatever action happens when clicking my name doesn't appear in the menu. IMO it would be better to not have actions on those menu items which have drop-down menus.
(i mean, no actions other that opening the drop down. touch devices don't have hover, etc..)
nikki
I don't mind clicking on my username to go to my profile page, but clicking on my data and going to my collection seems weird
('cause my collection is one of the entries in that dropdown)
warp
well, I _do_ mind that clicking on my username opens the profile page. I'll open a bug for it :)
nikki
most of the menu entries work like that btw
we used to have a seperate search link under the search menu, but then people thought it was weird going "search > search"
