the tracing is mostly done from computers :) you can get GPS traces from the phone, though, with anything that can produce GPX, and those can be uploaded to be used as a data source for where the roads are

Yeah. But every once in a while I happen upon "less traveled roads", so even if mapping streets of Copenhagen would not be very interesting, it's better that I learn before I happen upon actually interesting data which I manage to screw up somehow because I'm not used to these things. :)
