see if you can get anything out of that.

i'll peek.. can't lose anything by it..
      • ok, stupid question... nothing says, or lookslike, a log
      • lol
      • blizzow
        What's the log say?
      • jinxie
hmmmmmmm... don't see anything interesting. where it crashes it just shows file 12 added, file 13 added, file 0 added.... so i can see WHERE it crashed, but it simple stops writing to the log, then starts up again when i re-start it...
      • doesn't say anything about the crash...
      • blizzow
can you make any of the offending files available?
      • jinxie
and looking at the last files froma few crashes, they are ones i have gotten good tags for on subsequent tries
      • how so?
      • blizzow
so it can be tried on another computer, say put it up on a website or e-mail it?
      • jinxie
i could.. but if it has eventually been tagged, would that help?
      • Hmmm.. in your logs, do it show the 'file has been saved to' info twice for every file?
      • blizzow
doubtful, it would be best to see one that isn't currently working.
      • jinxie
yeah, thats what i though.. i can eventually get them all to work... just takes several ries
      • tries
      • blizzow
In my log it says file blah blah blah saved to: bla bla bla, and repeats yes.
      • jinxie
ok.. wierd... LOL.. just wanted to be sure it was supposed to be that way...
      • blizzow
Are the files on your local hard drive and not some network share?
      • jinxie
        yup, all local
      • blizzow
        jinxie: you're jinxed.
      • jinxie
        gee, thanks *wry grin*
      • well.. like i said, someone else has this prob too, so not just ME!
      • blizzow
can you make one or some of the offending files available?
      • jinxie
and it's not like it is annoying enough to keep me from using MB
      • blizzow
        It should be.
      • jinxie
heck no! i'd be hand TAGing them otherwise...
      • too much typing
      • blizzow
Do your files have special characters in the names?
      • jinxie
        nope...
      • blizzow
have you tried uninstalling the tagger and going back to 10.3?
      • jinxie
no... had same prob running 10.3
      • blizzow
have you looked at your application log in the sevent viewer right click my computer -> manage -> event viewer -> application log?

      • gonna try a total uninstall, and re-install 10.3
      • blizzow
strange indeed, I wish ruaok were here.
      • jinxie
hmmm... even better... it WAS 10.3 i originally installed... was thinking i may have gotten 10.2 and never noticed the 10.3 update, but no... weird

      • blizzow
It's ABC's Wide World of sports.
      • jinxie
it IS?? thought it was CNN?
      • blizzow
        no wait...It's ESPN
      • Oh wait, I think it's CSPAN.
      • jinxie
The Thrill of victory.... and the agony of defeat...
      • and am beingnning to feel like that poor skier right now!
      • blizzow
Baudelaire, I'd suggest trying www.musicbrainz.org, this channel is dedicated to the tagging and identification of audio files.
      • jinxie
and it is all YOUR fault, blizzow... i was just fine with this bug till you came along..
      • blizzow
        sorry man.
      • jinxie
        Ummmm....
      • <--- woman
      • *grin*
      • blizzow
Sorry Jinxie, you wouldn't be related to sphinxy would you?
      • jinxie
        or chick... wench... girl... whatever...
      • nope...
      • blizzow
        cool. sorry 'bout that.
      • the sausage factor on IRC is pretty high.
      • jinxie
no probs.. nic isn't particularly genderific
      • i noticed.. lol
      • hmmmmmm... add/remove had proper version number for MB.. wonder if it was just an internal number that never got updated?
      • blizzow
possibly. I would remove the program and then remove the musicbrainz tagger directory in program files if it's still there.
      • jsimmons has quit
      • Then I'd do a search for not only mbtagger.exe but any tagger dll files out there. Make sure they're gone too.

      • blizzow
        filk?
      • jinxie
folk music that never was, or might be in the future.. *S* usually based on SF/Fantasy
      • blizzow
ah, yes, you might have a lot of data entry ahead of you. I only got about half of my classical collection identiefied by the tagger.
      • jinxie
i am SOOOOOoooooooo glad i only have a few classicals... if you don't KNOW you have good info, not much you can do to get the right info... at least my stuff has lyrics i can search for
      • somniloquy
filk, eh? any bands i might know?
      • jinxie
i was actually rathe surprised at the large amount of data MB has.. was thinking i'd have to do a whole lot more than i have had to... lotta people out there have good taste in music
      • usually not bands, just individual singers...have nearly all the Valdamar... lots of heather alexander.. kathy mar.. julia ecklar.. leslie fish
      • somniloquy
hm... never heard of any of them :(
      • any suggestion as to what i should look for to get a taste of it?
      • jinxie
good stuff.. but you have to have that kinda taste... *S*
      • do you like SF/fanstasy books?
      • LOTS of comic stuff too
      • blizzow> i'm looking good, gone through over 100 without a prob... thanks
      • somniloquy

      • i love fantasy and really like sci-fi
      • jinxie

      • jinxie
Hmmmmmm.. don't know any specificaly related... fairly comprehensive list here, http://www.geocities.com/justin_w_eiler/filk/in... can see if you recognise any titles... try some micheal longcor for hilarious comedy SCA-type... the others i named are mainly soft fantasy-type filk
      • blizzow> spoke too soon... *sigh*
      • somniloquy
        cool, thanks
      • blizzow
uh oh. Are you at 10.3 or 10.4?
      • jinxie
        10.3
      • think a hammer might help?? or baseball bat maybe??
      • somniloquy
        a vorpal sword ;p
      • jinxie
        grin
      • blizzow
I don't like the idea of asking you to upgrade to 10.4 but it might be an improvement if the jump from 10.2 to 10.3 was as well.
      • jinxie
logger still saying there error is on 10.2.. and same dll faulted everytime...
      • blizzow
        die dll die!
      • I'd do a search on your hard drive for that dll and kill it manually.
      • jinxie
so iff faulty dll was updated in .4 it might help...

      • soccos_
        duh, just ignore soccos
      • blizzow
ntdll.dll is a windows based file.
      • jinxie
lol... not an expert here, but know enough NOT to delete dlls without being 100% certain tis safe...
      • blizzow
It's possible yours is corrupt, but I'm not sure how you'd figure that one out.
      • jinxie
hunt for it on google and see if i can download a good one.. *S*
      • somniloquy
        says it's "NT Layer DLL"
      • i'm guessing deleting that might be a bad idea
      • jinxie
        lol
      • somniloquy
assuming you're on an NT based 'doze
      • jinxie
        XPsp1
      • somniloquy
        same here
      • i could try sending you my ntdll if you want...
      • no idea if it'd work though... c_c

did you encode the mp3s yourself jinxie?
      • somniloquy
hmm... finding filk to download isn't proving to be particularly easy... :/
      • searching for specific artists in WinMX, DC++ and eMule i found nothing, then searching for just "filk" gave 6 results in WinMX, one of which was a pr0n movie
      • somniloquy gets the other 5
      • jinxie
blizzow> ummmm.. of course... i would NEVER download them from WinMX or anything *totally and perfectly innocent look*
      • somniloquy
blizzow, are you one of the people behind MB and the tagger and stuff, btw?
      • jinxie
somn> *nods* it's not rare, but not common either... be patient, grab what you can, use the URL i gave ya to find more artists...
      • somniloquy
jinxie, aye, will do. hopefully i'll actually find some stuff, and hopefully i'll like it ;)
      • blizzow
No, but I give money to them and have been using it for a while now.
      • somniloquy
        ah
      • any idea if there's going to be support for other formats, or plugins for other players?
      • jinxie
hey, will the popup go away after i give them money?? *S* just got my taxes back *GRIN*
      • somn> most of it has a folk type feel... some of it is bootlegged from cons, so i kinda low quality, but there is some really great stuff out there too
      • blizzow
no the popup never goes away.
      • Although there's a request for chocolate that comes up sometimes.
      • somniloquy
well i like some folk. some i don't. depends
