how do you think km/h should be capitalised, if at all? the artist (in this case, tatu) doesn't seem to have a specific preference. I think I've fouind the SI standards, which say km/h (no capitals), should I use that?
      • wheels has quit
      • tma
cikkolata: it's a standard term of measurement. I'm pretty sure that they pretty strictly follow capitalisation rules of their own, mainly because the term could be completely different if the letters are capitalised (ie: it might refer to something else if it's a "K" vs a "k", or "M" instead of "m"))
      • cikkolata: given that reasoning, I'd say that terms of measurement should follow their appropriate capitalisation and not generally follow the standard rules for grammar in titles
      • in other words, I think "km/h" is preferred
      • cikkolata
ok, that's what I was thinking
      • tma
of course, the artist can always override that :)

this copy of "Sunday 8pm" by Faithless has a bonus CD called "Saturday 3am", the MB entry is just "Saturday 3am", but I think it should be named so that it's more obvious that it's a bonus CD, do you think "Sunday 8pm (bonus disc: Saturday 3am)" is OK?
      • somniloquy
Personally I'd leave it just as "Saturday 3am", but I'm not sure if there's a general rule for that sort of thing... :/
      • tma
cikkolata: was the bonus cd ever released seperately?
      • if not, then "Sunday 8pm (bonus disc: Saturday 3am" is appropriate
      • +)
      • somniloquy
tma, I don't think so. I have the one with the bonus disc, and AFAIK the limited edition 2 disc release was the only way to get it...
      • IMHO it'd be nicer to be able to just call it "Saturday 3am", and somehow mark it as being a bonus disc from "Sunday 8pm", but obviously that isn't an option (yet)...
      • cikkolata
it's a CD of remixes of Sunday 8pm, so I doubt it
      • somniloquy
Now that's weird... I just found a track on a single that has (album version) after the name, but the version on the album is the same length as the one marked as (single version), not that one... c_c

      • Hmm... There's a compilation called "Goth Box", and the 4 discs are labelled as being discs G, O, T and H. Should they be entered as such, or just as discs 1-4, as with most other compilations?
      • cikkolata
        I'd probably do (disc 1: G) (disc 2: O) etc. or something
      • somniloquy
        That'd look icky, IMHO...
      • cikkolata
        hmm.
      • tma
that depends : do you think the letters G O T H are just stylistic, or are they actually referred to by that (say, in the liner notes)?
      • somniloquy
        Alas, I don't own it, so I don't actually know... :(
      • tma
if the discs are referred to by those letters, then I think (disc 1:G) etc would be appropriate - however, just looking at it from a "what information is required to distinguish this disc" point of view, you can get away with just "(disc 1)".
      • somniloquy
        ...but not "(disc G)"?
      • tma
not, that will mess up the sort order completely :)
      • somniloquy
...cos that's how they are ATM, though the formatting is rather inconsistant.
      • K, I'll change to "(disc 1: G)" etc...

postgresql 8 (http://developer.postgresql.org/beta-history.txt) sounds pretty interesting
      • ruaok
        yup. I read that earlier.
      • the only part I didn't like was the dump/restore part.
      • djce
About it being required to upgrade you mean?
      • ruaok
        yeah
      • djce
That's always been the case for version jumps though.
      • e.g. 7.2 => 7.3, 7.3 => 7.4
      • ruaok
        really?
      • I didn't do one for 7.3 -> 7.4
      • djce
        yes, AFAIK
      • for 7.4.x to 7.4.y it's not necessary
      • but for bigger jumps it is, IIRC.
      • ruaok
heh. a local company here (sonic solutions) just bought roxio's CD/DVD burning assets.

when audioscrobbler and musicbrainz work together (or that's what I read will happen eventually), I wonder if I'll need the same username on both sites...
      • ruaok
we're hoping to work out some common login scheme...
      • cikkolata
        hmm
      • I'd rename my audioscrobbler account if I could, but... er, I can't, and I hate it when people ditch old accounts to make new ones just for the sake of changing their username, so I wouldn't do that.
      • ruaok
next time you see RJ in here, bug him to rename your account.
      • cikkolata
        ok then
