which is a shame because I wanted to see people try to romanize some of those titles

should be some amusement

the old tagger has all sorts of errors with non-English filenames

why would they need to be transliterated

use picard if you want to tag stuff with MB that has Japanese in it

_fatalis: they wouldn't, but often there are both original versions of albums in the database plus English transliterations for people that can't read Japanese

and considering some of the titles on that soundtrack it'd be amusing to see how they try to transliterate stuff like track 9's title

looks like a bug, mention it to luks

likely to do with your system codepage versus how the files are encoded

i think it's beause of some non standard encoding in ID3 tags

winamp won't read anything picard tags

picard writes unicode

winamp hates unicode

it reads other japanese tags quite well

winamp can only read tags in native windows encodings?

yeah it sucks balls

winamp can read shift-jis if you have your system and fonts setup right

but it can then only handle one code page at a time

so if you want Japanese and Chinese and Thai all displayed right you have to use unicode

and a player other than winamp

QCD and Foobar2000 both support unicode fine

Tag&Rename won't do, it can't even open a folder with japanese characters in its name

tag them using picard

Well, not my problem. No need for T&R after I found Picard

so how do I tag with picard?

drag files to untagged

then click the cluster button

drop the files on it, hit cluster, click the cluster, hit lookup, select the album from MB, drag the cluster on to it, hope it recognizes them, hit save

it only works well if you have some tags in the files already

if it doesn't recognize them you'll have to drop each file onto it already

if not, look up something, it'll open the browser, and you can search an dmanually add albums

the album isn't in MB yet lol
