nechto13 turns invisible and starts running all over the place, but no one notices because everyone is to busy ignoring him
I can't log into test.mb :(
Shepard
nechto13: not ignoring you, just don't want to handle with this case now :)
nikki`
nechto13: if you don't get an answer from us, it probably means we don't really care about or follow what you're asking us about
Shepard
it means we are asshats
nechto13
umm thanks, i guess?
inhouseuk
Shepard: one of my clients was intending to use MB for a project, with all the stupidity and bickering they've seen over the last couple of weeks they are now going to probably use a combination of graceshit and AMG
nikki`
oh dear.
nechto13
ooh graceshit, where do i find that?
nikki`
ahh
Shepard
err.. want do you want to tell me with that? that I'm responsible for stupidity? that this case is stupid? (yes it is) or why do you address me with that?
inhouseuk
it also means that I probably won't be required to do the coding for the project, therefore no money for me :(
nikki`
now that I've nuked those icky id3v1 tags, everything shows up fine :)
aww
nechto13 goes back to his quest for the chocolate and non-asshats
inhouseuk
Shepard: I wasn't pointing fingers at anybody in particular, my client is just amazed that the MB is even considering promoting itself to commercial companies, they don't view MB as being professional in the way that it approaches things
Shepard
people say the same about wikipedia
inhouseuk
I'm not aware that wikipedia sells data licences
Shepard
though it's the most popular encyclopedia in the web
inhouseuk
my client likes the idea of unicode, but as an addition to standard latin1, they would rather go to graceshit with the complete lack of unicode support than use a datasource that forces unicode use without providing a suitable alternative representation
Shepard
well you know about TurningYourIdeasIntoReality - if you want the money you could try to help with adjusting the processes to make them more professional
nikki`
grumblegrumblegrumble
I created another account on test but I can't seem to get the email verification :/
inhouseuk
maybe test hasn't got sendmail running on it
Shepard
hum my account works with the pw of the main server there
nikki`
mine doesn't.
because Nikki isn't nikki.
Shepard
:/
inhouseuk
Shepard: yes, I could, but that would take a considerable amount of my unpaid time, currently a lot of work needs doing on various MB things such as processes, documentation, etc
one of the major worries they had/have is the accidental corruption of good data, which is why I brought up the data locking/protection discussion a couple of weeks ago
nikki`
ahh
inhouseuk
that like the idea of using a open solution for their project, but their reputation will depend on the quality and usefulness of that data to their customers
s/that/they
nikki` understands
in other words, if their customers don't like what they get, they are unlikely to get repeat business from them
nikki` idly notes how *long* everything takes if you're not an automod
jbo has quit
they would have also probably contributed a far amount of data to MB, certainly when it comes to discids
s/far/fair
nikki`
:/
nikki` goes to catch a few more hours sleep
inhouseuk
sleep well!
nikki`
thanks!

is that choco rolling around in a chocolate dream?
I take it SenScroog is aka SenRepus

yup
he was here until about an hour ago

inhouseuk: IC.. went to to local electronics outlet today and looked, every single Antec power supply no longer has that pin... but every other company I looked at does.
inhouseuk
so antec are the only ones that have dropped the -5V rail
that makes me think they have mis-interpreted the spec
teleGUISE
so it seems... though i dont remember if you recall the one spec did say it had N/C
inhouseuk
yeah, I think I did see that somewhere
enermax are a good alternative to antec
teleGUISE
I saw them.. ones on the shelf were kind of upper end (overkill for the ap)
wow.. didn't even notice till looking online they are made in the U.S.?!?
nechto13
teleGUISE: could you drop me a line about MOD 3837778 or add a note. i'd like to know why you voted that way. thanks
teleGUISE
nechto13: ok..will do later.. it was all very confusing and was considering changing to abstain.. it just seemed the points were in favor the other way.. but will do
though i have to say.. i think navigation on their site sucks
inhouseuk
teleGUISE: enermax?
teleGUISE
yeah..
inhouseuk
the site is also very slow (or at least it is here)
teleGUISE
to me it looks like the +Products , +whatever would mean the + expands
what the heck is a plus used for if it doesnt expand?
inhouseuk
to show you where you are, I've seen another company use a similar style recently, probably using the same web content management system
teleGUISE
well where am i :)?? the front page... where's a product list?
it's so odd all these people talk about atx v2.01 why don't any of them tout the latest specs?
hmmm.. well looking at a supply thats to atx 2.2 spec... i don't see a -5v spec
the elt400,500 & 620's all don't have -5v output
inhouseuk
okay, so they agree with antec on that
but at least they do have previous spec products available
teleGUISE
it appears.. though exactly what I was going to say
so it's intel for being so stupid and antec for trusting them
inhouseuk
this could be a major issue for people with older motherboards
it could be interpreted as another way that intel are attempting to force people to upgrade their machines
teleGUISE
i cant believe Ill be the first.. I was starting to draft up a letter to antec.. that means -none- of their supplies will support any board requiring -5v.. and i wouldn't think that board was the only one ever made
inhouseuk
well they've lost me as a customer, not that they will care about that anyway
teleGUISE
yea.. i'd have to say i always boasted about their stuff... I don't have the fanciest of fancy from them but 2 of my boxes are Antec cases with Antec psu's.. and never a hint of trouble but this puts a spin on things
inhouseuk
I've got antec supplies in 2 of my machines and I've installed them in quite a few others
duncf joined the channel
teleGUISE
throughout the year i've done the same... obviously not Intel boards or one's that required -5v anyway ;)
inhouseuk
any new machines I build for myself or build for my customers will use either enermax or non branded ones
teleGUISE
so your enermax or any ole generic for your low end builds, huh
inhouseuk normally builds a couple of machines a month
inhouseuk
yup
teleGUISE
well I have to say in my experience with generics... as long as your not loading them to much over 50% of their 'rated load' the only problem i've ever come across is slightly noisy fans w/not a long longevity but usually people are ready to build a new system by then luckily
inhouseuk
yes, the only problems I've found with generics are fan related, for normal daily desktop machine use they are okay, but tend to wearout and get noisy for machines that are on 24/7
teleGUISE
actually in a persons box with a infamous ECS 5A board the not so tight generic psu worked where the tight supplies caused issues...though really an issue of the ECS board...
so i think it's a semi-generic for mom.. (she hates noise ;) ) and work on getting her updated to this decade before it's over
inhouseuk
I've seen similar in the past with a board that was slightly off spec, it was very particular about the psu, In the end I swapped out the board for another one and returned it as faulty
buy a mid range generic with a temperature controlled fan
teleGUISE
yea i was looking at Thermaltakes 430 though need to see if it's temp controlled it has dual 80mm and an Ultra 400.. happened to be 2 on the shelf not all that pricey that's why
inhouseuk
thermalakes are okay, I've used a couple in the past

matter of fact on the ECS board a buddy just gave me one cuz he became frustrated with it.. ECS K7S5A's were very picky.. I put some ddr in it and modified the bios and clocked a duron up pretty good and no blue screens or nothin
Hey there Mr G'
how did things go with the Summit?
inhouseuk generally doesn't overclock machines, stability can become an issue
teleGUISE neither do I.. but just wanted to taunt my buddy that gave me the board ;)
g0llum
moin tele, things are looking good.
what are you up to
teleGUISE
now he wants it back ... though he was just joking... though i might give it to him..
That's good to here... anything we could get excited about that really might happen in this lifetime ;)?
g0llum
have you seen what we are planning to revert the reversion of the styleguide change ;)
Oh boy... is that going to take a few times to get used to seeing!
i'll be scrolling back up expecting to see VA at the top every time
inhouseuk doesn't use the tagger or picard. all files are encoded and tagged when they are ripped from CD
g0llum
but it's good, isn't it
inhouseuk
yes g0llum the solution is good
nechto13
i like it
g0llum
there just needs to be some styleguide how to handle series like GU, or series with changing mix artists
teleGUISE
yes.. it is... good.. just need to teach the old dogs a new trick... though why is the artist for track 1 just Roni Size and in the current db Roni Size & Reprazent?
g0llum
uhm. check the album mods
g0llum hides
i went after discogs as i undid my stupid mistake
inhouseuk
g0llum: I guess it didn't take much coding to impiement as artists are already stored on the tracks even for single artist albums
