this is a variation on ruaok's trivia stuff that shows releases for -7/+14 days from today: http://www.mb.inhouse.co.uk/releases.html
      • 2006-02-04 03525, 2006

      • inhouseuk
it could still use a little work to make it more efficient
      • 2006-02-04 03506, 2006

      • sysrq
will mods with 6 yes votes and 1 no still go through or fail?
      • 2006-02-04 03525, 2006

      • inhouseuk
        sysrq: it will go through
      • 2006-02-04 03546, 2006

      • sysrq
what's the required ratio to override no votesâ?
      • 2006-02-04 03527, 2006

      • inhouseuk
yes votes need to be higher than no, if they are the same it will fail
      • 2006-02-04 03532, 2006

      • sysrq

doesn't MB have a lower bound for dates?
      • 2006-02-04 03531, 2006

      • nechto13
        if not, then why not?
      • 2006-02-04 03529, 2006

      • inhouseuk
it does now, but it might not have had when those were entered
      • 2006-02-04 03543, 2006

      • nechto13
        ah, i see
      • 2006-02-04 03539, 2006

      • inhouseuk
        it now does - if ($y >= 1900 and $y<= 2100)
      • 2006-02-04 03531, 2006

      • inhouseuk
so it wouldn't have caught the 1900 ones, but it would have stopped the earlier ones
      • 2006-02-04 03545, 2006

      • nechto13
interesting, it's still possible to put releases up to 2100? i wonder why
      • 2006-02-04 03537, 2006

      • inhouseuk
the only alternative is to make it dynamic in relation to current date
      • 2006-02-04 03541, 2006

      • nechto13
that wouldn't be that difficult in javascript?
      • 2006-02-04 03556, 2006

      • nechto13
i think i've done something like that in the past
      • 2006-02-04 03524, 2006

      • nechto13
my javascript knowledge is a little rusty
      • 2006-02-04 03538, 2006

      • inhouseuk
I'd rather do it on the server. I've known peoples clocks to be a long way out on their machines

      • 2006-02-04 03503, 2006

      • nechto13
even if that's true, you could hide it on the page :) i just don't think it would be necessary to go to server for that, but i haven't been making web apps for that long either
      • 2006-02-04 03523, 2006

      • inhouseuk
the javascript currently does a little checking to validate they are filling in the correct field, you can't enter a month without a year. But checking whether it is a valid date and within range is done server side
      • 2006-02-04 03536, 2006

      • inhouseuk
remember people can always turn off js

      • 2006-02-04 03551, 2006

      • inhouseuk
fixed some of them, zap a few others and put a mod note in for one as it was an automod that had added the album!

      • 2006-02-04 03511, 2006

luckily the old tagger will be dead soon and we will finally can delete that dupe :p
      • 2006-02-04 03534, 2006

      • inhouseuk
it's not just an old tagger problem. There are lots of portable players that can't handle unicode in file names
      • 2006-02-04 03549, 2006

      • luks
well, yes, but there are thousands of other albums with non-ascii tracks in the database
      • 2006-02-04 03505, 2006

      • luks
we can't keep dupes of all of them
      • 2006-02-04 03541, 2006

      • inhouseuk
agreed, but this is one of the more common albums that more people are likely to have.
      • 2006-02-04 03552, 2006

      • inhouseuk
