        Microsoft Windoze 98SE English
      • fuchs
thought that was altgr-. on every os, but didn't use another os for quite some time ;)
      • mustaqila
        Not on Windows
      • Most Windows can muster is AltGr + a/e/i/o/u/4
      • fuchs
BGreeNZ: but compose-.-. works as well ;o)
      • mustaqila
        That giving áéíóú€

Unfortunately, while using English versions of Microsoft's lame attempts at operating systems, I have grown used to both Alt keys being the same
      • mustaqila
AltGr = Alt + Ctrl on Shitdows
      • BGreeNZ
It's a bit of a PITA when I go to use Debian and the Right-Alt key doesn't behave the way my brain thinks it should :(
      • fuchs
        ^°o°^
      • BGreeNZ
        mustaqila: Alt+Ctrl doesn't work either :(
      • mustaqila
        Must be an XP thing
      • fuchs
        i'm sure alt-f4 does

        You want Ctrl+Z
      • Or was it Alt+Z
      • BGreeNZ
        fuchs: nice try.
      • fuchs
BGreeNZ: 5 years ago you could always see a handful of people quitting when saying something like this ;)
      • the realy evil thing was telling a linux newbie to fix his system with rm -rf / though ;)
      • BGreeNZ
Heh. We put that up as a cheat-code for Windows Solitare in the school computer lab about then too ;-)
      • IIRC, the cheat code for Lemmings (yes, we had Lemmings installed on the school computers) was Ctrl-Alt-Delete
      • mustaqila remembers the day of "hacking" the school network
      • mustaqila
We set up a new username and put Counterstrike on it, so we coul dhave LAN games during lunch
      • Then they "upgraded" to XP T_T
      • BGreeNZ
We played deathmatch DoomII and Descent. I would get sick of being blasted to pieces, though
      • mustaqila
Best game was "how to get aruond the internet filter and look at porn just to show that we can"
      • That game never got old, because everytime we'd get caught, we'd start a new game of it : P
      • BGreeNZ
I didn't have the ability to practise at home. For some reason, Doom and Descent wouldn't run on a '286 :(
      • I / we would spend most of our lunchtimes staring at a blue Turbo Pascal IDE, though ;-)
      • mustaqila
When the school clamped down on "computer abuse" at lunch times we spent the hour moping about corridors or being a general pain the arse to any staff heh
      • BGreeNZ
Ah, the good old days... :-)
      • Back when any half-decent program offered full keyboard access.
      • BGreeNZ despises using the mouse when he *should* be able to accomplish the same thing faster with the keyboard
      • BGreeNZ hates GUI programs that have no keyboard accelerators for their controls, ad-hoc (i.e. default) tab-order, or (worse) controls *missing* from the tab-order
      • mustaqila
I got awfuuly annoyed in ICT "lessons"
      • And the "to copy it select it, go to the Edit menu, and press Copy"
      • BGreeNZ
        ICT?
      • mustaqila
        Ctrl+C plz

      • Just basic use of computers and implementation is a business situation
      • BGreeNZ
        Ctrl-Z, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V are completely illogical with a dvorak keyboard layout :-(
      • mustaqila licks Shift+Insert
      • mustaqila wonders what's on his clipboard
      • mustaqila
        Hmm, best no posted here

      • BGreeNZ <3 Windows 1.0 legacy
      • And MS-DOS 5 Editor, Turbo Pascal 6+, etc
      • IIRC, my first introduction to those legacy clipboard keys was <gags> QBasic and <chokes> Windows 3.0

      • Imagine running *that* under Windows 3.0 (or 3.1) on a 16MHz '286 with 1MB RAM and a Stacker4'd 40MB hard disk ;-)
      • I think I went and installed every single font that comes with Windows '95 on it, too. Took about 5-10 minutes just to boot Windows into Program Manager, then about the same time again to load WinWord

      • "You must be a moron to think they are hardcore. When did hardcore cease to be punk rock? They are tech metal. And for those who called it grind, you are morons as well."
      • Bonehead actually replied saying he didn't do anything wrong when I sent him a warning for putting that in a wiki.
      • mustaqila
        "tech metal"
      • I hate that term
      • It's a lame excuse for "uncreative fuckwads that just mash random notes together and scream, then hope for the best"
      • Oh and also rely upon the unwavering sheep mentality of retarded 14 year olds who'll all flock to buy it because they saw it on MySpace
      • HairMetalAddict
I hate all these 50 million genres, so I have my own 3 classifications: "Hair Metal", "Not hair metal but okay", and "All that other crap"
      • mustaqila
"good" "shit" "tolerable" is how things work within my mind
      • HairMetalAddict
And conveniently, those are also proper artist descriptions for a wiki in the mind of a MySpacer! :-P
      • mustaqila
I know not to publicise those views in the wrong place though
      • HairMetalAddict
I know. It was just such an obvious joke, and being in my pre-coffee mode, I can only make obvious jokes. ;-)

Has anyone had any luck getting Picard 0.6.0 working under Win98SE or WinME?
      • SenRepus
        yea it works on ME
      • for ... me
      • BGreeNZ
TAGGER caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCR71.DLL at 0187:7c350513.
      • SenRepus: How long ago did you download it?
      • SenRepus
its actually not installed since i reformted
      • im pretty sure i got the same DLL error with the last version when i tried to install it shortly after my previous two reformats
      • i know it was MSVCR33.dll
      • ## not 33
      • i talked with luks about it and he said he knew of no fix for it
      • eventually installing just worked for me... no apparent reason why

        i think it was 5.0

      • g0llum
        moin
      • BGreeNZ
        You mean 0.5.0?
      • So you have just now downloaded, installed, and run Picard 0.6.0 with no problems?
      • SenRepus
        sure
      • no i used an old isntall file
      • this was like 6 months ago, when i had that problem
      • i think
      • not to be rude but I have to get to bed here real quick
      • getting tired of goign to work dead ... tired...
      • BGreeNZ
What is the exact filesize of the installer you used? The one I have (which isn't working) is picard-setup-0.6.0.exe (4,865,461 bytes)
      • SenRepus
        mines the same
      • created feb. 4th
      • i donno if thats when i downloaded it or when they made it
      • my other installer for 0.5.0 is from november
      • so i think thats too new for this problem
      • BGreeNZ
That'll be the date the file was created on your computer, so the date you downloaded it.
      • Mine was created (downloaded) 15 Feb, so they must be identical
      • SenRepus: Thanks for the help, I'll let you get to bed now.
      • One other thing, while I think about it, do you have any standalone versions of Python installed on your computer?
      • SenRepus
        i only have windows ME
      • BGreeNZ
not that I expect it should make much difference, of course
      • SenRepus
        er wait
      • python is programing not OS... uh no, heh
      • i honestly dont know what fixed the problem. its like updating a certain thing or installing something alters the DLL and makes the program run
      • eMb joined the channel
      • BGreeNZ
Oh well. Do you know anyone else I can ask about this problem?
      • SenRepus
well you can talk to luks but he plainly told me that he knew of no way to fix this, and from the way it sounded i dont think he thought there even was a way to fix it
      • did you recently install ME?
