enter the usual name in the artist field, click the + next to the artist field, write in the ANV in the ARtist Name Variation

yeah, theres no mention about how to set ANVs in the help section. Discogs help is pretty poor, but its being re-written and hopefully a more helpful help section will be in place soon

any new submissions that have failed will be in drafts, for edits, the link should still work if you still have the email for the rejection

i just submitted a disc id for an album that doesnt have track time, but becuase of the disc id i cant add the track times, how do i add the track times?

You can't bwahhahaa.

isnt the disc id supposed to provide the track times?

It does in a later server release.

oh, so i cant add the track times without deleting the discid?

Afaik, ask someone clever, though.,

chancey, if you click on the discid link, at the bottom fo the page showing the CD TOC, etc. there'll be a link to a set the album times using the times from the discid you're looking at

I've heard that the process is ugly...

it was a sort of forced upgrade after .. i made some mistakes.

oh. :-(

i did an apt-get dist-upgrade out of habit, but forgot i still had sarge backports in my sources.list

which sort of fucked things up a bit.

the ugly bit here was the kernel, stuff about initrd images which couldn't be made. most of it got resolved without having to physically connect monitor+keyboard to the box

however, i wasn't sure if a -686 kernel would run on an amd k6... so I just tried. it didn't.

i still have to upgrade the rest, but i better remove all kinds of crap i'm not using first.

this is just my own box for mail+irc, it's ok if its offline for a few days.

(i pay an isp a few coins/year for bsmtp in case something like that happens, so i won't loose mail)

i'm trying to get it to rename a bunch of files that are all called "Unknown Artist / Unknown Album"

will it do that? (and not just edit the stupid id3 tags - but actually rename the files and folders?)

Yes

In the settings for picard you can have it rename the files along with the tags.

how do i do that?

i'm looking at file > options now

(in picard / windows)

i have the "renaming files when editing metadata tags" option checked - the only problem is that it simply isn't doing it

the current release has a lot of different disc ids and I'm trying the find out which one is valid before I want to split the lot again
