More specificly I'm trying to add a PUID to a musicbrainz album in order to get Picard to recognize it

eek, cddb?
2007-03-02 06145, 2007

currently I'd have to use the website and do a fake login/POST
2007-03-02 06107, 2007

so first it needs to be added to the web service

luks: *Disc ID (the bA2cB8TOC0WsWG0UcMeuXUc_OJM- things). :)
2007-03-02 06147, 2007

yes, I think there is a daily script that sets track times from disc ids
2007-03-02 06144, 2007
FauxFaux
Whoot.
2007-03-02 06116, 2007
FauxFaux would like to see a report of releases where the track-times don't match the disc-ids, might have to do one tonight.

ummm
2007-03-02 06117, 2007
Jugdish
why does picard error on puid-calc for a track that is currently playing?
2007-03-02 06105, 2007
luks
on windows or linux?
2007-03-02 06108, 2007
Jugdish
windows
2007-03-02 06137, 2007
luks
hm, I guess directx requires an exclusive access then
2007-03-02 06157, 2007
Jugdish
picard is using directx or my player is?
2007-03-02 06107, 2007
luks
picard is using it
2007-03-02 06124, 2007
Jugdish
it using directx to calc puid's?
2007-03-02 06132, 2007
luks
to decode the file
2007-03-02 06139, 2007
Jugdish
oh
2007-03-02 06159, 2007
Jugdish
could it just use a built-in decode routine instead?
2007-03-02 06124, 2007
luks
yes, but that's a lot of work to create decoders for all formats
2007-03-02 06140, 2007
Jugdish
oh yeah good point :P
2007-03-02 06159, 2007
luks
this way I can just tell people to install some DX filter, and picard will have support for that format
2007-03-02 06106, 2007
Jugdish
gotcha
2007-03-02 06112, 2007
Jugdish
what does it do on linux?
2007-03-02 06123, 2007
luks
it uses FFmpeg
2007-03-02 06128, 2007
Jugdish
nice
2007-03-02 06130, 2007
luks
there would be no technical problem to use it on windows
2007-03-02 06141, 2007
luks
but it's big, and I don't want to include it in the package
2007-03-02 06151, 2007
Jugdish
i see
2007-03-02 06108, 2007
Jugdish
even if it's a custom-compiled ffmpeg with all vid functions stripped?
2007-03-02 06127, 2007
luks
I haven't tried to compile it on windows yet
2007-03-02 06137, 2007
Jugdish
i would imagine it's a bitch ;)
2007-03-02 06107, 2007
luks
besides, people can always install ffdshow :D
2007-03-02 06119, 2007

another question regarding puid's in picard: i used picard to tag a bunch of releases, but then removed them from the gui before submitting the puid's to mb. now i bring the tracks back into picard and they match up immediately (since they already have mbid's) but the "submit puid" button is grayed out
2007-03-02 06126, 2007
Jugdish
how do i submit the puid's now?
2007-03-02 06150, 2007
luks
the only way is to put them back to 'Unmatched files' and create the puids again
2007-03-02 06110, 2007
Jugdish
eek
2007-03-02 06150, 2007
luks
or just don't submit them :)
2007-03-02 06115, 2007
Jugdish
heh, i'm leaning more in that direction ;)
2007-03-02 06136, 2007
Jugdish
but it would be nice if there were a way to do a force puid-calc on tracks without having to make them unmatched again
