lol, agreed - if I could set this properly, it'd be something like "Source Material"/"Professional"
      • yllona
yeah, that's where the real sustainable income is delivered.
      • BrianFreud
it's the music equivalent of enterprise-grade software
      • yllona
        absolutely
      • BrianFreud
it just doesn't quite fit the classes we use for commerical music
      • yllona
i ahve a friend who's been hired to write/arrange music for one of the reality tv "dancing shows... he delivered 400 charts last week
      • drsaunde
probably cheaper to hire someone to create original stuff than license other stuff
      • Citizen joined the channel
      • yllona
teh reason he was hired is that's his ability to write orchestrations on--demand is a dying skill.
      • Citizen
        hi
      • any spanish speaking people in here?
      • yllona
my buddy began is his career in the 60's/70s -- teh glory days of the "variety show"
      • FauxFaux
        http://rafb.net/p/GmnvSo21.html <-- Suspicious, very SUSPICIOUS.
      • http://faux.no-ip.biz/mbreports/mergeproblems2.php <-- right, fixed ui, fixed the speed down to 22s bulk data gathering and <1s per short page.
      • No appologies for the poor quality of the php or the html it generates. :P
      • BrianFreud
        still trying to load :D
      • timing out on your server again FauxFaux
      • SerialNumber
Can you use .py on Windows, or do you have to compile it or something?
      • BrianFreud
you can use it, just have to have the right version of python installed
      • SerialNumber
        Alright, thanks.
      • BrianFreud
like luks' puid script, it only works with 2.4, not 2.5
      • SerialNumber
Exactly what I'm going to run. :)
      • BrianFreud
        fun fun
      • let me suggest, go back about 2 weeks in the chat logs
      • Mo and myself and a few others had to fight with windows to get it working
      • just about any possible error you could get is in those logs
      • you also will need an installed copy of old picard
      • SerialNumber
Hmm, I've got QT installed... Pretty sure I'm not going to do this right now in that case.
      • Probably going on a tagging rampage at some point. :P
      • BrianFreud
well, you need the puid generation libraries out of old picard
      • SerialNumber
Ah, I think I read something about that.
      • BrianFreud
you can still be running QT - just need the old version around so you can snag the libraries you need
      • or actually,
      • if you can accept dcc, I can zip up the whole working directory, with the libs in place
      • then all you need is python 2.4 installed, and you're set to go
      • SerialNumber
I think my router hates DCC, but you can try.
      • BrianFreud
        ok, compressing now
      • just unrar to some directory somewhere, and you ought to be ok
      • SerialNumber
        Alright, thanks a lot.
      • BrianFreud
        np
      • it's a mess to try and re-create
      • lol
      • SerialNumber
        :)
      • FauxFaux
BrianFreud: Hehe, my connection just went down, perfect timing. Okay now?
      • BrianFreud
SerialNumber: if it won't go through, I can just email it to you
      • SerialNumber
        I think it's transferring now.
      • BrianFreud
        yup there it goes :)
      • FauxFaux: trying again
      • timing out again :)
      • SerialNumber
Might be that my ISP has done some changes. Before it seemed impossible to do anything DCC-related.
      • FauxFaux
BrianFreud: Sigh! Trouble-makers, the lot of you. :p
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • FauxFaux
Right, it's actually fixed this time, I actually bothered trying it externally. Damn powercuts. :(
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • ooh, pretty :)
      • FauxFaux
Oh yeah, I'm not appologising for the style or design either. ;p
      • BrianFreud
        hehe
      • it's actually a whole lot easier to read than before
      • FauxFaux
        That was the plan. :)
      • BrianFreud
        Just a minor question...
      • Artist name? :)
      • FauxFaux
Hah, I was just typing "No, you can't have the artist names.".
      • BrianFreud
        haha
      • FauxFaux -> add the artist names.
      • FauxFaux
See what you did now? It's all slow. :(
      • BrianFreud
SerialNumber: It doesn't matter where you put the directory, just unrar it somewhere. Call it from a command line, within that dir, with "pythonw puid_submit.py (path to music root folder)"
      • FauxFaux
Yeah, no, you can't have artist names. :p
      • BrianFreud
        lol, ok
      • not too big an issue anyhow
      • Citizen has quit
      • FauxFaux
I thought only catgroove liked artist names, which is why I waited for him to go sleep. ¬_¬
      • BrianFreud
well, they're minor - the release is borked no matter who the artist is
      • Do you remember the report I mentioned last night?
      • FauxFaux
I could change it to a big red X, but you may as well have the info there, imo. :)
      • Ummm..
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • some url fixes fail, even when voted or approved in
      • FauxFaux
        Ah yeah, that one.
      • BrianFreud
      • If there's already a url in the database with www.amazon.com/product/gp/B00012345, the edit will fail
      • FauxFaux
Indeed. I was thinking about it. :)
      • BrianFreud
that subgroup of urls needs to be removed and readded in order to be fixed
      • right now, only auto-editors can tell which those are
      • (fix, autoapprove, notice it's still borked)
      • FauxFaux
It's on my (previously empty) todo list, but now, sleep.
      • BrianFreud
        lol, ok
      • SerialNumber
BrianFred: I uploaded it on my webspace, so if anyone else asks, it can be found at http://koti.mbnet.fi/conectac/PUIDSubmit.rar
      • *BrianFreud
      • yllona has quit
      • BrianFreud: Do I have to put in my username somewhere in here?
      • FauxFaux
Read the first few lines of the .py file, SerialNumber.
      • BrianFreud
        yes
      • SerialNumber
Hmm... That's a pretty unsafe password, Brian. :)
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • not used much
      • SerialNumber
Since it has your password, I think I'll delete the one I uploaded and send a "clean" version
      • BrianFreud
lol, I changed the pw at MB anyhow :)
      • but thanks
      • SerialNumber
        Ah, good.
      • BrianFreud
        forgot it was in there
      • rpedro has quit
      • rpedro joined the channel
      • Compressed has quit
      • FauxFaux
BrianFreud: I wasn't really paying attention earlier, something like http://faux.no-ip.biz/mbreports/out.html (still generating)?
      • That's literally "ASINs that exist in two or more urls".
      • BrianFreud
        well, it's basically,
      • take borked ASIN. Fix it. If "fixed ASIN" is already in the database as a different urlID, the edit to fix that ASIN will fail
      • FauxFaux
That's close enough to what the report shows, right? :p
      • BrianFreud
so it'd be a list of those borked ASINs which, if fixed, are already in the db
      • BrianFreud opens report
      • yup, that's it
      • and the count's about right too
      • FauxFaux
Yes, it's /still/ generating. :p The count is the same as the badasins report,.
      • BrianFreud
        that makes sense
      • all the ones that survived both ojnkpkg and I going through all the bad asins and fixing them
      • FauxFaux
It's not the number of items that are going to appear on the page, as it does't knoiw htem yet. :)
      • BrianFreud
only the really borked ought to be left
      • SerialNumber
Appears that my computer doesn't recognize the command pythonw... I should probably try after booting?
      • BrianFreud
did you install python for windows 2.4?
      • SerialNumber
        Yeah, I did.
      • Or 2.4.4
      • Might there be a difference between 2.4 and 2.4.4?
      • BrianFreud
        try using c:\Python24\pythonw blah
      • no, 2.4.4 is what I have
      • SerialNumber
        Alright, I'll try.
      • FauxFaux
Logging off and logging back on again will do, or closing (hopefully just) all the command windows you have open.
      • BrianFreud
it may not have added itself to the system paths
      • FauxFaux really sleeps (still going D:).
      • FauxFaux: yup, I'm seeing a lot of "already visited url" coloring on this report
      • just what we'd expect :)
      • thanks :)
      • and sleep well
      • SerialNumber
        Good night!
      • FauxFaux
Remind me to rename out.html to The "Really Bad" (tm) Amazon ASIN Links Report when I get up. :p
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • Faux... editing?
      • lol
      • FauxFaux
Musicbrainz is my personal tag managment software. ;p
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • yeah, eventually I'll have all of my releases in there
      • only another 3000 or so to go :)
      • FauxFaux
You run a major record label, or something? :P
      • BrianFreud
        hehe, nah
      • just been working on coverting everything to digital since 1995
      • */converting
      • even back then I was doing it all in 256 :)
      • FauxFaux
Heh, I need the hardware to rip (or, hell, play) vinyl. :/
      • Anyway, really sleeping this time. *flee*
