by the way, re: my question on moin... a big part of why I ask is I know the lists have to be resource intense... and some of the parsers and css improvements since 1.5 address almost exactly this type of larger “list of” page and how to make it non-intensive for the server

yes, nikki i agree. it happens often when two performers have the same given name. example Vannessa Williams (now on TV, but is successful broadway and recording artist) and another singer actress Vannessa L. Williams. the latter added her middle initial to avoid confusion.
