in theory i would also subscribe to editors who tend to add interesting releases, but in practice i haven't done so yet :)

i tend to subscribe to uh.. you guys.. liek a lame "buddy" list.. isthat lame? yes

yeah, I have both - ones I don't trust and ones I do - on my list. If "Subscribed" actually showed subscribed editors' edits, I'd prob just subscribe to those I don't trust.
Hmmm... Okay, Weird Al's "I Love Rocky Road" is a parody of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". It came out not long after Joan Jett's version spent 13 weeks at #1. He was obviously parodying her version. But the original was done by The Arrows in the early 70s. So is it a parody of Joan Jett or The Arrows?

BrianFreud
If her version was different enough to be a new work (if we had works yet), I'd say a parody of her work, with her work a cover of the arrow's work.

Hmmm... Never heard The Arrows version.

Doubt many people have. They may have done the original, but she made it the legend that it is. ;-)

Think I'll go with Jett's version ("artist intent").
Damn idiots released it as a B-side. No wonder noone knows who they are with stupid decisions like that. :-P

During Yankovic's sophomore year as an architecture student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he became a disc jockey at the university's radio station, KCPR. Yankovic said he had been nicknamed "Weird Al" by fellow students and "took it on professionally" as his persona for the station.

not a clue, but considering they were most likely in high school in the 60's in Lousianna, Jeff Buckley was probably a bit young to have been one of them

*sigh* Really thinking artist intent should be deciding factor in parody/cover. Who's version the artist was attempting to parody/cover should take precedent over "the original artist".
2008-04-12 10334, 2008
HairMetalAddict
Becomes a big factor on Weird Al's "Even Worse" album. 4 parodies are of songs that were popular at the time of release but each was itself a cover song.
