and catalyst is very lightweight, if you use only the core parts
      • since we don't need ORM or things like that
      • so for us it's not really a "MVC" framework
      • it's even possible to use mason from catalyst, but I don't think we will need that
      • it was quite simple to get it running, though
      • aCiD2
Right, and will it be ok to run Mason alongside Catalylist?
      • (as development progresses kinda thing)
      • luks
of course, since they will use different webservers :)
      • aCiD2
        ah, thought so :)
      • I'll have a play with Catalyst over the next week then, along with TT
      • luks
there is not really much to play with
      • aCiD2
maybe so, but I still need to have the slightest clue what I'm doing at some point
      • before starting work seems sensible :)
      • luks
sure, but I think it will be obvious when you see it
      • I was working on a simple catalyst setup this weekend, to play nicely with the current MB codebase
      • aCiD2
        any hiccups?
      • luks
not really, but we can't use all the standard catalyst tools
      • so it needs some work to integrate e.g. sessions, logins, etc.

      • orogor
        pong
      • i settled on sound juicer
      • aCiD2
I guess you're on linux, but I think the best is still EAC running through Wine
      • Sound Juicer is not secure
      • orogor
seems likt it s simple enought and works
      • how comes , not secure ?
      • local root exploit?
      • aCiD2
no, not that kind of secure
      • secure as in secure ripper
      • at least I don't think it is
      • one sec
      • secure ripping ensures you really do get what's on the cd
      • orogor
aCiD2, it s a front end to cdparanoia, would cdparanoia not be "secure" ?
      • aCiD2
        I thought it might be
      • well, cdparanoia is known to have issues with caching drives, but it can do secure rips
      • FauxFaux
You could just use cdex and stop being paranoid, y'know.
      • You have the media, just re-rip it if it sounds bad.
      • aCiD2
        FauxFaux: rip once rip right!
      • eww
      • Muz
        C...D... whassat?
      • orogor
humm i dont think there s cdex on linux
      • aCiD2
the whole point of archiving is in case the cd is damaged
      • orogor
but yes i guess on windows i d use that
      • aCiD2
what you use is re-ripping then?
      • FauxFaux
Of course, what your brain actually cares about is the crc of the audio data coming into your ears.
      • aCiD2
        that's not the point
      • it's no extra effort to get a secure rip, so why wouldn't I want one?
      • FauxFaux
Well, your method seems to involve not listening to a newly ripped CD on loop until the next one arrives.
      • aCiD2
        huh?
      • FauxFaux
There is extra effort, you have to use software that's fucking shit, like maybe EAC.
      • luks
running EAC on linux _is_ extra effort
      • FauxFaux
Which won't even load here (Vista 64).
      • aCiD2
        I'm not on linux
      • anyway, I've really gotta get some sleep.... 30 hours awake is taking it's toll now :P
      • orogor
:) i guess youd better go sleep , yes
      • Muz
        aCiD2, girl
      • aCiD2, stay up until the summit, you can sleep on the train here
      • You'll be fiiiiine
      • aCiD2
Muz: can be if you want, we'll sort that out next week
      • Muz
aCiD2, can you do your hair in a pooooony tail?

      • i am very happy, ripping a very rare bob marley Cd i didn t listened to since maybe 10 years
      • basically it s the same songs everyone know, but witht he volumes of the sound table adjusted differently for each instruments and some additional (minimalistic) effects
      • comes from a 4 cd compile that my dad hat for 3 euro at the flea market
      • unfortunatly i ve been stolen a cd or can t find it anymore and i lost the book (or was it stolen as well)
      • Hoho, seems there s 3 disks only as from musicbrainz, so maybe idont lack one
