nikki: I ran picard from luks' bzr repository on mac os x before, it's a fair amount of hassle to get every library installed, but it's not impossible.

but it would be all that hassle when 0.11 is working fine for me

sure, i'm not saying it would be worth it :)

and I'm trying to avoid installing loads of libraries, I only seem to mess things up

(for the record, I often use whatever debian has given me, which is picard 0.9.0)

ok, i see what you were saying yesterday about the track vs album metadata changes

and if i instantiate my plugin as a track processor then it works

but

now i have to figure out a way to keep it from doing (number of tracks) requests every time i drop an album on picard

did you try it as an album meta data processor but adding the changed metadata to every track on the album? just like tthe cover art or original date plugins do it?

if you run it from the command line, it'll tell you what it's doing (what album it actually matches and what styles it's embedding)

i forgot to write back in the artist fallback stuff

you can go ahead and use it, it'll still work, it just won't find tags quite as reliably
