neothe0ne: the track artist doesn't say anything about the role the particular artist had on the song.
neothe0ne
warp: are you saying track artist = release artist?>
warp
neothe0ne: if there is no track artist specified on the cover, yes.
srotta
Exactly. We bravely assume there's a reason for putting it into a release by some artist, and if there's no information to the contrary, release artist = track artist.
warp, i already made hawke_'s exact point to fatih then nikki, they disagreed.
srotta
hawke_: It's a lot different since that's, again, soundtrack.
hawke_
The only difference being that the last track in my referenced album happens to have a performer rather than merely a composer
neothe0ne
srotta: i don't see how it's different.
you can't just segregate music releases into Soundtracks and non-soundtracks
srotta
And still that's exactly what we're doing.
neothe0ne
if its an instrumental track, generally the composer becomes the artist, especially if its not a karaoke track on a single - am I wrong?
srotta
As well as classical and non-classical.
And bunch of other groupings which have slightly different rules.
neothe0ne
if i Am wrong, show me examples
hawke_
srotta: vgmdb classifies it as “Original Soundtrack”...
neothe0ne
i cant comment on that having not watched the anime, but that really shouldnt even be relevant to the issue here.
hawke_
and says “Single release from Akiko Hasegawa. "LEVEL∞" is the second ending theme of Slap-up Party: Arad Senki, anime adaptation of Dungeon Fighter Online.”
which suggests that even if it were relevant that it’s a sound track, it is a soundtrack.
srotta: What difference does it make that it’s a soundtrack anyway?
srotta: Soundtrack Style says: “For pre-existing non-classical music, Artist should contain the performers.”
srotta
hawke_: Soundtracks generally have music attributed to composer. Unless it's pop.
hawke_
and Akiko Hasegawa is not the performer on the last track
Leaving only the composer
neothe0ne
srotta: what would you do with a Cd that is half pop, half soundtrack then.
you're not going to change them all to vocalists, or all to composer, are you?>
hawke_
srotta: How is this not a soundtrack?
srotta
hawke_: I don't know, the release type says it's single, so I'm going by that.
hawke_
It’s both...*shrug*
srotta
As I said earlier, I don't know Japanese so I won't edit or vote on those releases. I try to stay away from those since it always ends up with Great Japanese Exception, which I deeply disagree with. 8)
neothe0ne
srotta: there is no japanese exception here.
warp
(there is no japanese exception at all)
hawke_
As far as I can tell, it’s a single of “inspired by” music, which happens to also include at least one actual track from the soundtrack.
