I didn't mean that I think it's wrong or not as good to use "morning", just that I'd find it odd to take something like モーニングコーヒー and turn it into "morning coffee" and then say it should be sentence case because it's japanese
2010-06-09 16035, 2010
nikki
but then if you say that should be english caps because it's english, what about when it's a mixture? what if only one word is japanese? what if only one word is english?
2010-06-09 16040, 2010

My opinion is that borrwoed words are now part of the language. when we romanise them, be they Italian, English, French, Korean etc. in the first place they are now Japanese and not affected by English case. This is 100% if written as ''mouningu''/''mo-ningu'''/''mōningu''/whatever but when replaced by genuine word ''morning'', I understand it has to be discussed.

nikki: so do you with English in Japanese sentence words without caps? (or sometimes I've seen katakana romanised in UPPERCASE and the rest in sentence)
2010-06-09 16042, 2010
jesus2099
ex: プラットホーム is a typical borrwed English word integrated in language whereas アイアム is not really in the language but is still english
2010-06-09 16047, 2010
jesus2099
It would be too complex to refer to each language's capitalisation rule, we should stick to one romanised Japanese style
2010-06-09 16009, 2010
nikki
if I'm using a transliteration of the actual japanese, I would use sentence caps. if I turn it back into english... then I don't know, hence what I was saying earlier
2010-06-09 16018, 2010
nikki
in mb I generally try and avoid the problem by letting other people add them and leaving capitalisation alone on the ones I edit (except for lowercasing particles :P)

I think we couldn't do the English caps because foreign words can come from plenty different languages (however mainly English) and we simply can't refer to so many guidelines for just a track list.. And the sentence being mostly japanese it would mix rules and we can't cope with that either
2010-06-09 16024, 2010
nikki
if we just say sentence caps though, I doubt people will bother using it
