        (if we can't, we should)
      • nikki
we can't merge them, we can only edit them all one by one
      • Tecfan
what kind of instrument is it?
      • i have an expert on the topic if it's asian..
      • nikki
both the saz and a baglama is on that page you linked us :P
      • reosarevok
        Turkish-Greek, IIRC
      • Tecfan
        perfect
      • i'll bring him in
      • if it will help?
      • nikki is too tired right now though

        hi Tecfan
      • Tecfan
        hi
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        how can I help?
      • Tecfan
        saz vs baglama
      • ErkanYilmaz1
what do you want to know?
      • Tecfan
        how are they related?
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        well, Wikipedia says:
      • It is sometimes referred to as the saz (from the Persian ساز‎, meaning a kit or set), although the term "saz" actually refers to a family of plucked string instruments, long-necked lutes used in Ottoman classical music, Turkish folk music, Azeri music, Kurdish music, Persian music, Assyrian music, and in parts of Syria, Iraq and the Balkan countries
      • e.g. I know from Turkey mostly the term saz
      • my father had a saz
      • Tecfan
ok, so saz is an instrument family
      • nikki
right now we have baglama, which has a subtype "turkish baglama" which has a subtype "greek baglama"
      • reosarevok
        That sounds quite confusing :p
      • nikki
why do you think I'm confused :P
      • reosarevok
Greek is a subtype of Turkish?
      • nikki
and saz needs to go somewhere in the tree
      • I think that's supposed to mean it's derived from the turkish one
      • reosarevok
        Pffft
      • nikki
(like we have sanxian > sanshin > shamisen or something)
      • reosarevok
Note, get rid of the tree :P
      • nikki
        I can't just magic it away :(
      • ErkanYilmaz1
when there is no tree, there is no wood to make the sazs or baglamas ;-) bad joke I know
      • Tecfan
        haha
      • nikki laughed
      • me too
      • nikki
so either it's not a bad joke or I have a bad sense of humour :P
      • reosarevok
        nikki: or both :p
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        hehe
      • so you guys are doing the musicbrainz tagging system? cool
      • I remember when I tried once to create an artist at MB, it was really fast deleted :-)
      • that is actually good, keeps quality high I guess
      • on the other side: demotivates newbies
      • but good anyways
      • Tecfan
did you add a release to the artist?
      • same thing happened to me this weekend..
      • ErkanYilmaz1
I think, at least I thought I did it good, but soimething must have missed still
      • Tecfan
added artists and they were gone ;>
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        :-(
      • Tecfan
her ErkanYilmaz1, I have used shamisen in one of my songs ;)))
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        nice :-)
      • Tecfan
        already tagged it ^^
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        which one?
      • Tecfan
      • comes in at 20 seconds
      • ErkanYilmaz1
        ok

        Hello people :)
      • anyone with knowledge about the import functions of mb around ?
      • caller_6
Naed: I probably don't know the answer, but what's your question?
      • Naed
when you drag an album from the left pane to the unmatched/clusters pane, some albums will divide into a disc1 / disc2 layout, any way of disabling that ?
      • thanks for answering :)
      • caller_6
ha! I knew that I wouldn't know the answer...
      • But what about working from the other direction? drag the correct release from the MB website into the right pane of Picard, then match your tracks to that release one at a time?
      • (assuming it's only a few releases that are giving you a problem)
      • Naed
        hmm
      • that is indeed one way of doing it, the problem is that it isnt just a few :D
      • i basically have the joy of sorting the musiccollection of a jukebox with 400gigs of music
      • caller_6
yeah, my know-nothing work-arounds don't scale well. If you check back on this channel, somebody more clue-ful than me is usually around. Or try the forums. It's less real-time, but eventually the right person will see your question.
      • meanwhile, I'll play around with Picard and see what if I can stumble upon a better answer.\
      • Naed
aye aye aye :) im looking at the different scripting options atm
      • to see if i cant force them back together afterwards
      • caller_6
Is it tracks from a single CD that are being split into a 2-disc set?
      • Naed
nah, 2sec, ill grab a couple of the tracknames
      • 120-dizzy_mizz_lizzy-waterline_(morten_breum_remix).mp3 <- last track on cd 1
      • 201-robyn-dancing_on_my_own.mp3 <- first track on cd2
      • these are, with the rest of the release in a single directory
      • untill i drag'n'drop them :)

Yeah, sorry, wish I knew. The advantage to asking on the forums is that the answer then there for others to find later.
      • Naed
aye, i know, i just came here in the hope of stumbling on one that did know :)
      • but all is not lost, what you have said has helped :)

hmm, some of that can be used, but i think ive stumbled upon the script that i need, now i just need to tweak it to work like i want :)
      • http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?id=... <- post 5, the script for various :)
      • oops, wrong one :D
      • $if2(%albumartist%,%artist%)/$if(%date%,\($left(%date%,4)\) )$if($rsearch(%album%,\(\\\([^\\\)]*disc[^\\\)]*\\\)\)),$rreplace(%album%,\\\([^\\\)]*disc[^\\\)]*\\\),)/)%album%/$num(%tracknumber%,2) %artist% - %title% <- this is the one
      • just need it to cut out a single level :)
      • caller_6
        Nice
      • caller_6 really needs to learn to do scripting
      • VxJasonxV
Naed: there is a picard plugin on the wiki to remove "(disc 1)" and "(disc 2)" from titles
