Importing fully Picard tagged m4a's into iTunes will strip out MBID's and the like, yeah?

Hm.. is anyone familiar with genpuid tool and m3lib cache format? I wonder if it's possible to create cron job that goes over my music collection and generates PUIDs for songs that do not have one yet.

But since I have over 25k songs in library, some kind of cache is required, to parse only new ones. Any ideas?

assuming you're tagging your songs with the puid it really shouldn't take that long to check each one for whether or not a puid exists

Wizzcat, good point. Is Picard always adding PUIDs, or only when I explicitly did fingerprint lookup on that file?

I'm not actually sure, probably not unless you scan.

Personally I've rather stopped caring about PUIDs, an MBID is more valuable in a library.

I wonder what is current status of PUIDs.. http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Summer_Of_Code_Ideas states: "Acoustic fingerprinting projects: There are new and open acoustic fingerprint projects coming out soon, so we don't need to focus on this."

If a release is only available for streaming (for example, in Bandcamp) but not for download / digital sale / physical sale / anything… is it still a release? Is it a bunch of standalone recordings? If a release, what should the release events be?

My ISP problem is, would I pay more for a local company that doesn't throttle torrents. Which makes me put price on an ideal. Which makes me evil too.
