Hmm, can anybody tell me if merging two releases will also merge their recordings (dupe recordings for a dupe release, sigh)?
ianmcorvidae
I think there's an option on the merge releases screen to do that
jacobbrett
Ah, silly me "Merge mediums and recordings". Thanks.

hi everyone, are there vinyl specialists here ? ^^
I have a Lonnie Johnson vinyl where I don't know how to choose the label : Storyville is the most obvious but there are numerous mentions (on the cardboard) of Pure Pleasure Analogue and the cat. no seems to contain both: "PPAN SLP162"
so idk if Pure Pleasure should only be considered as the manufacturer or if it's a label
juhae
might be a rerelease by PPAN
kovacsur
looks like that record isn't present in the current Storyville catalogue, the original SLP release is from 1963
after linking the old recordings and the remasters, should the person who was in charge of it credited as "mastering engineer" ? Or just mentioned in the annotation maybe ?
kovacsur
I usually simply use the "mastered" AR, I think it's sufficient
jacobbrett suggested also adding an annotation when you asked the same question last time :)

oh damn it, whats up with that '502 Bad Gateway'...
if i do big querys/edits i always get them.
editing tracklist of a bigger release is impossible
mat_: you only need to click "merge release" on both pages
the server will figure out the positions of both discs by itself in this case
mat_
oh, ok, that was hard :-)
thank you
Mineo
no problem

awesome, I have just correlated a musicbrainz-related tweet by a japanese person to their user account on musicbrainz, because they mentioned a release they just added.

kepstin-laptop
heh
kepstin-laptop just searches 'musicbrainz' on twitter now and then
but yes, it doesn't do imprints, and is therefore of limited use.
reosarevok
So, frewsxcv: you could try to map names and it would help a little bit
But that's about all
frewsxcv
reosarevok: map names to that RIAA website with the list of labels?
reosarevok
Yeah
frewsxcv
i ask because i'm about to obtain ownership of http://riaaradar.com , which used to be a site that would show whether the imputted artist/album is RIAA affiliated
and i'm thinking about the logistics, maybe using musicbrainz or discogs
reosarevok
Neither of them would be specially simple
But if you can map imprints to their actual controlling companies
Clint: i can input an artist and it will tell me if their releases are RIAA affiliated?
if that functionality already exists in riaa.com, let me know
nikkiphone
g remember that site :o
frewsxcv
well hopefully i can find some people to help me with the site. the past guy wrote it in MSSQL and ASP.net and did most of the database population by hand
