I'm on a 12 step program for artist sort order corrections, only did one yesterday. Its funny, I see stuff in MB and just want to fix it.

1. The guidelines are not crystal clear

2. Unsuppored/undocumented info is easily accepted ..., and then burden of proof to change it is on the editor.

3. To do it propery, you have to research if its their birth name... which takes too much time.

4. Nobody wants Jon Bon Jovi solo albums sorted under "J", while Bon Jovi the group is sorted under "B"

5. Most stuff, including what I am doing, is moving away from sort order.

Well, there's no guideline that says data shouldn't be added to pseudos

whether you remove the Eyes Wide Shut thing or not, I wouldn't rename the recording to the work name

if it is licensed, I can understand renaming it to something more generic once it is linked to the other releases on which the recording appears.

If it were the actual recording used in the film I could see it, at least it then has some relation to the film.

But as is, I think the release is just saying “Waltz from Jazz Suite, the piece that was featured in Eyes Wide Shut” — which is clearly more work-related than recording-related

it would be "the piece that was featured in Eyes Wide Shut" if it was licensed

now it is more "a knock-off recording of music from Eyes Wide Shut which just happens to be this piece"

this is where I'd use my "context" argument. The "Eyes Wide Shut" part makes sense in the context of the tracklist, but is not needed outside it.
