What do folks find easiest to use to rotate cd scans and make them look good?

snartal: If you get obsessive, you'll need a full-strength program like photoshop of the gimp or something, I think, to deal with scratches and moire and all the dumb things that one can worry about instead when one should really go out and eat a pizza instead.

Yea, thanks, just got a quick photoshop lesson from my son, so gonna use that, glad that it turned out to be somewhat simple.

it's my understanding that the artist "begin" field is to be used for birthplace in the case of a person

and my understanding is that artist names should be restricted to those used professionally

Well, you have a point there, as I read the guidelines. Though they might be outdated, from what I've seen discussed here.

What I've mentioned in similar discussions is to merge only if the legal name has no ARs attached.

Even that's not enough for some. Remember Kepstin's merge last Christmas?

I agree with you, if the name is used in ARs then it's worth keeping.

btw, why are Japanese place names on mbz romanized?

@flamingspinach: I have no idea. Only a handful of editors have the power to add/edit them. Perhaps it's so they can be found more easily?

works on win and in wine so that would be on mac and linux also

I got kepstin to tell me what he actually does, I have to say, it's a bit addicting deliberately putting things on the scanner wonkily XD

well, it was just scanning from gimp, using its rotate thing to straighten things properly and then applying some filters (which I turned into a command line thing)

so,... there is this song which is more or less a cover with completly different lyrics. how do I enter this? i have the work of the original song. is this still a normal cover or something else?

if the lyrics are totally different, then you'd need a new work
