Cuan: Sorry, I was AWOL for a sec. This is not one of Triple-Q's better mashups.
      • sandeen joined the channel
      • Cuan
Mashup relationships tend to get really messy.
      • In many cases, it would probably be better to have them at work level.
      • But that wouldn't work 100% if a specific version is mashed up.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Yeah, that's why I stick to relating them on the recording level.
      • Cuan
Uh, you can't do it at work level. It's a recording-recording relationship.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
You said "work level" earlier. Typo?
      • Cuan
And the dropdown list makes it pretty hard to grab the correct recording, if it can be determined at all.
      • Nah, I meant it might be better if the relationship was recording-work.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Normally (at least for me) the recordings are easy to find or interchangeable.
      • Cuan
That "Get Low" one I just commented on is from a game rip or something.
      • +bootleg
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Game rips are set to Bootleg by default.
      • There was some discussion about it a while back but the general consensus was that if it was never actually released as a soundtrack, it should be set as a bootleg
      • Same goes for leaked TV soundtracks and the like
      • Cuan
        I did not debate that.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
I don't recall you joining the discussion.
      • I myself just sat in on it.
      • Cuan
I meant that you should rather use a recording from the original album or single (where applicable) to the mashup, rather than one from a bootleg.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        I normally do

      • So, has anyone else watched episode 1 of Sailor Moon Crystal yet?
      • Cuan
        Yep.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Did you get up early like I did?
      • Cuan
        Not for that reason, no.
      • I could watch it after lunch.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
It was on 5:00 AM local time
      • HibiscusKazeneko registered a Nico Nico Douga account just for this
      • [back to topic] The reason I bring it up is because I was enthralled with the soundtrack
      • If I were to import https://musicbrainz.org/release/88981062-8e36-4..., would the Blu-Ray work?
      • I know the US and Japan are in the same region, but wasn't sure if ISDB played a role
      • STalKer-X joined the channel
      • Cuan
ISDB is just a broadcast standard.

(that sailor moon remake could really use a bigger budget)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
simukis_: I agree. Sticking to cel animation was the right move, though.
      • simukis_ also wonders whether they will be remaking the whole thing or just a little bit.
      • It's supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the manga
      • They're sticking like glue thus far
      • Cuan: The reason I wondered about ISDB is because I ran into trouble with the NTSC-PAL divide in the 90s
      • (via a VHS tape)
      • Cuan
Those were analog though, with a different number of lines and different refresh/frame rates
      • nickhilr1 joined the channel
      • DVB vs. ATSC vs. ISDB is just the way stuff if distributed.
      • HibiscusKazeneko flashed her old MacBook's disc drive for https://musicbrainz.org/release/e64d8c8f-7c22-4c7a-b790-678fc44c9df0 before finding out it was region-free
      • With the "stuff" being MPEG-2 or -4 transport streams.

I have a question: I have a release whose LP and cassette versions have 6 tracks while the CD has 9. Is this an EP or an album?
      • CallerNo6
HibiscusKazeneko: if they (the artist(s)) don't call it an EP, it generally isn't, as I understand it.
      • Since there's no agreement on what exactly an EP is, that seems like the only way to do it.
      • I'm not even sure what the measurement would be. Duration seems better than number of tracks.
