"Up until the last moments of the game, anyone can win!" is a listed right on the box.
      • hawke1
        Yup.
      • Freso
_Dave_: I guess so, but #musicbrainz-devel would be a better venue to ask.
      • (That is, I can't remember how to run the tests off-hand. It should be documented somewhere though.)
      • _Dave_
        ok I'll do that
      • I think of any -devel channel as "don't talk there unless you are pushing changes to it" :)
      • Gentlecat joined the channel
      • Freso
MB's a little more loose in these regards.
      • _Dave_
        thankfully so
      • Freso
The boardgame chat isn't exactly strictly on-topic either. :)
      • _Dave_
        Indeed
      • but people went there so I did too...I don't get on IRC much anyway
      • Freso
Yep. We're generally not too strict about being on-topic, unless there's a meeting or some crisis going down - but those are usually handled in -devel and you'll be told to "please wait" if you blunder in and don't realise it before it's too late.
      • kepstin-laptop
huh, BGG doesn't have a status for having played a game, but do not own it.
      • hmm. I guess you can do that by not checking a status, but adding a play
      • hawke1
kepstin-laptop: yeah, I was gonna say…just hit 'record a play' on the upper right
      • Just to get this slightly on topic, who wants to add http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/34400/singin... to Musicbrainz?
      • _Dave_
        wait
      • musicbrainz handles board games now?
      • hawke1
_Dave_: It handles music releases, regardless of form.
      • Freso
I think we have at least one boardgame soundtrack in the db already.
      • hawke1
      • At least two.
      • There are several more by Flying Frog Productions which could be entered.
      • _Dave_
so that would mean video game music is in there too?
      • hawke1
        yup.
      • definitely, there's lots of that
      • jcazevedo joined the channel
      • Freso
There's also plenty of non-music audio, simply because people have wanted it there. E.g., audio books.
      • Sound clip CDs.
      • Etc.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Speaking of which, I've been waffling on the contents of https://soundcloud.com/dirtypotter
      • CatQuest
wait, what the hell is "cosmic encounter" and why does everyone casually know it
      • simukis_ joined the channel
      • CatQuest has imself added a release with cd lens clener
      • to my excuse it had music and talking on it
      • and is kind of interesting in that it was made by phillips "creators of the cd compact disc technoloy" as they say on it
      • _Dave_
Cosmic Encounter is an awesome board game
      • I don't have links handy like most people but google it
      • hawke1
CatQuest: apparently we have an intersection of musicbrainz folks and boardgamers in the channel at present. :-)
      • kepstin-laptop
hmm I dunno if I've played a Cosmic Encounter before. Description sounds vaguely familiar.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        me neither
      • is it like Risk?
      • _Dave_
to me it's the best board game ever, but someone will likely challenge that
      • it's a meta game
      • you have rules, then you have cards/powers that break the rules
      • and it's quite social...at times you'll negotiate deals
      • CatQuest
the only interesting/wack board game I know is flodhesten i badekaret. and nobody wll know that soo...
      • _Dave_
        I can't even pronounce that O.o
      • CatQuest
pity, because it's eally hilariously funny
      • hum.. hippo in te bathtub? idk
      • HibiscusKazeneko
CatQuest: Was it ever released under any other name (in another language)?
      • CatQuest
        I wouldn't know.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Google isn't showing me anything relevant
      • Freso doesn't know Cosmic Encounter
      • CatQuest
but the whole hippo in the bathtub thing waskind of the running joke and on the logo so it would have that
      • HibiscusKazeneko
      • CatQuest
        freso! \o/
      • hawke1
I’ve played Cosmic Encounter twice…once about a year ago, and once about a week ago
      • _Dave_
I first played at caltech in the early 80s
      • hawke1
I think it’s held up much better than any game approaching that age
      • _Dave_
someone got drunk and decided (because he was losing badly) to piss on the game
      • when he sobered up he bought me another copy
      • and then he bought me a 3rd copy
      • Freso
        Wtf...
      • wikifeet.com...
      • _Dave_
I've been holding on to the last two copies since 1982
      • hawke1
_Dave_: But not the first copy?
      • _Dave_
        no lol
      • that would be an emphatic "hell no"
      • hawke1
        :-)
      • _Dave_
anyway it's an original Eon set
      • and likely somewhat valuable, if aging
      • Mayfair re-released the game sometime later
      • and changed the rules
      • CatQuest
(not that I like looking at men's feet any more than womens feet, but it seems a ridiculou standard)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
dafuq am I looking at... O_o
      • Freso
CatQuest: I didn't even look at the site, but maybe it's open for men's feet as well, but I guess most people just upload women's?
      • _Dave_ knows not to go to wikifeet.com ;)
      • HibiscusKazeneko would kill to see a size comparison of Stephen Merchant's feet
      • It just popped up in some search results, while looking up an MB artist. :p
      • CatQuest
        :D
      • CallerNo6
is this the first time Freso has run into the foot-fetish people?
      • HibiscusKazeneko
Freso: What artist were you looking for? One who moonlights as a fetish model?
      • Freso
        CallerNo6: Not really.
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        Welcome to the INternet
      • HibiscusKazeneko doesn't have a foot fetish, to her knowledge
      • CallerNo6
anyway, yeah, it's pretty disconcerting to google a woman and have her feet be in the top auto-complete suggestions.
      • CatQuest thinks it's dumb to make fun oof someone liking something harmless liek that
      • HibiscusKazeneko
      • This is the main downside of foot fetishes

you people who like to touch and be touched by other people are weird :-P
      • (unless it's full-contact sparring or tango, of course)
      • CatQuest
considering that website talks about batman catching joker and a teletubby stealing food I don't really take it seriously.. isn't it like the onion?
      • hnn it's soo windy and now it's rain
      • i better go try levle up this dumb pupitar and go to bed

      • but not so many indeed… it depends what you edit :)
