hi folks, Popular a decade ago (in the UK at least) were CD singles that had 2 releases, with different tracks, remixes, etc. Is there official style guidelines for entering release titles for these. Obviously in teh same single release group should have say (CD1) and (Cd2) on them. Or nothing at all if nothing is on teh cover.
I have seen different ways of doing this thus looking for guidelines.

Rovastar: I remember that. but as far as guide for it.. uhh th only one I can think of to know is nikki. it might work if you pm her?

Rovastar: this has been discussed various times in the past on the style mailinglist. I think it's OK to put them in the same release group, and probably in most cases the CD1 or CD2 should be in the disambiguation comment field, not the release title.

Hello, I have a couple of questions
derwin
Tre0n: welcome
Tre0n
1, when a song has X feat. Y, and Y is a member of a band that's already in MusicBrainz, do I credit the band or make a new page for the individual?
derwin
feat is a little complicated
Tre0n
Yeah I gather
derwin
but in general you would probably add the artist as an individual
babel42
derwin okay
derwin
sampsyo: do you have beets gsoc
Tre0n
righto
I'm editing an album with many featured artists that don't exist in MB yet
Is there some easy way to add them all?
I'd think MB would auto-generate or something, but I can't put in the edit without crediting something in the MB database
am I in for creating 5+ new artist pages here?

ZaphodBeeblebrox CatCat i don’t have ebay account and it shows Australia as my country !? so i can’t help you.
ariscop
when you're selecting an artist, there's an option at the bottom of the popup for creating an artist
Tre0n
I didn't see that, one sec
ariscop
might have to scroll
check some of the existing artists first though, if you select one the preview turns into a link to their page
Tre0n
yeah righto
what's the case if an album is released in a foreign country, but the song titles are all clearly in english with no trace of any other language?
do we apply english style guidelines?

Hi
I've an error message on your website
Attribute (position) does not pass the type constraint because: Validation failed for 'Int' with value undef at constructor MusicBrainz::Server::Entity::Track::new (defined at lib/MusicBrainz/Server/Entity/Track.pm line 62) line 101
would be nice if there was some way to manage a number of edits as a group
Tre0n
I edited an album earlier and ended up with 26 open edits from it
and the edit note is on every single one
it is kinda messy

derwin: The "as_auto_editor" was the tick box previously used for AEs to not use their "powers" on a given (set of) edit(s). However, with yesterday's release, that tick box's been replaced, so userscripts refering this need to be updated.

heh, this has to be the first time that somebody's adding the same album as I am at the same time
Mineo wishes people would stop releasing flac files with different sample rates across an album because metaflac can't calculate replay gain values for them :/
artists without relations are deleted after "a few days", how long is a few days?
MissDee
I think it's a weekly cron or similar

might be harder to tell if you aren't familliar with japanese scripts. but if you look closely to many times does the same kanji repeat (plus there aren't nearly enough kana - japanese doesn't have that much kanji blocked together)

ariscop: Cleanup runs daily, each run only considers entities that haven’t been touched for at least 24 hours.
ariscop
ah
chirlu`
So, at least 24 hours, at most 48 (or so).
ariscop
and i assume open edits will also hold artists open?
chirlu`
Yes.
ariscop
excellent, thanks
being able to save and resume an edit would be nice

Arthur_Rainbow: If it happens again, please put the whole error message somewhere online (including the stack trace, request parameters etc.). Without these details, it’s almost impossible to track down a bug.
ariscop: There are hundreds of nice-to-have feature requests on JIRA. :-)
Yes, that’s part of it (the stack trace). The full ISE message includes even more data.
Arthur_Rainbow
ISE ?
That all I have on my side
apart from the usual message: Entering an edit note that describes where you got your information is highly recommended. Not only does it make it clear where you got your information, but it can also encourage other users to vote on your edit — thus making your edit get applied faster.
Even just providing a URL or two is helpful!
Edit note
chirlu`
Oh right, in the release editor you won’t get everything unfortunately.
Arthur_Rainbow
Anything more, or could I close this tab ?
chirlu`
If you have a browser (or browser extension) that lets you view request data, you could open that and re-submit so that it picks up the request.
E.g. Firefox has a Network Analysis tab in its developer tools.
