Wow, so this is high-school boys who transform into girls?

kepstin-laptop
note the use of the masculine 'ore' in that title; main character of the show is a guy who transforms into a magical girl with a really impressive 'twintails' hairstyle
2014-11-04 30830, 2014
kepstin-laptop
only the one guy, the other characters are girls

Basically a moe version of the Sailor Starlights?

or not
2014-11-04 30827, 2014
kepstin-laptop
the basic idea is to make a parody of magical girl shows incorporating elements of the 'sentai' or whatever genre (ala power rangers, etc)
2014-11-04 30829, 2014
kepstin-laptop
the series macguffin is of course "the love people have for the twintails hairstyle" - that's what the bad guys are trying to collect and remove from the world, and what powers the super-suits and special attacks.

this is karaoke, publishers, and you should know better.

simukis_: yeah, karaoke or カラオケ is sometimes indicated, but instrumental is more popular these days
2014-11-04 30820, 2014

which gets really annoying when actual instrumental tracks are marked the same way
2014-11-04 30843, 2014

Usually if a release contains both it'll mark the tracks as to which is which

I recall one single - probably a track used as a bleach op, i think? where there were a bunch of tracks that each had one of the band members removed from the mix (i.e. instruments removed and vocals removed)
I think they just decided to use the C for stylistic reasons; I think they use it everywhere the band name is printed romanized

I never got a chance to watch the dub before the streams were pulled. Did they re-record any of the music?
2014-11-04 30846, 2014
kepstin-laptop
I don't think so
2014-11-04 30815, 2014

re-recording music is way too expensive for any of the studios given current market conditions
2014-11-04 30831, 2014

(I asked because in an ANN review of the Full Moon o Sagashite dub, they mentioned none of the songs were recorded in English due to licensing issues)

yep, Japanese record labels tend to be snooty
2014-11-04 30801, 2014

kepstin-laptop: Printed ISRCs are common on Taiwanese releases.
2014-11-04 30858, 2014

they only printed the ISRC for the one track, of course.
2014-11-04 30817, 2014

HibiscusKazeneko: have you noticed your tendency to use language that is more extreme and full of agency than what is actually happening? "threatening to destroy" is actually "harmless error"?
2014-11-04 30819, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
I had no idea it was an error at the time.
2014-11-04 30830, 2014

sure, but you presumed it was a "threat" to "destroy" ?
2014-11-04 30843, 2014

those words are both rather strong
2014-11-04 30844, 2014
hawke
HibiscusKazeneko: So you jumped to the conclusion that I was maliciously voting?
2014-11-04 30859, 2014

and in fact what he said was "If not, I would say this should be normalized"
2014-11-04 30806, 2014
derwin
which seems very non-threatening?
2014-11-04 30812, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
That's a veiled threat.
2014-11-04 30828, 2014

2014-11-04 30801, 2014

HibiscusKazeneko: No — I had misinterpreted the comment thread to be about the edit, instead of about the release.
2014-11-04 30820, 2014

you seem to generally personalize and impart lots of personalized agency into ambiguous online communication
2014-11-04 30851, 2014

2014-11-04 30800, 2014

2014-11-04 30855, 2014

HibiscusKazeneko: but newgrounds are pretty hostile compared to music meta data nerds :)
2014-11-04 30814, 2014

so perhaps the role of my mirror is merely to suggest that you're safer than you think, and it's ok to let your guard down a little.

2014-11-04 30825, 2014

You assume Hibiscus's negativity is negative
2014-11-04 30847, 2014
_Dave_
wonderfully recursive, I'm honored to see it
2014-11-04 30845, 2014

It's probably better said that you assume Hibiscus's behavior is negative
2014-11-04 30837, 2014

I am characterizing her language as negative, yes, and am conjecturing that feeling "threatened" must be unpleasant for her
2014-11-04 30858, 2014
derwin
I also presume it is slightly unpleasant for hawke to be accused of threatening, if he is not doing such a thing.
2014-11-04 30814, 2014
_Dave_
maybe her language isn't negative as much as exaggerated?
2014-11-04 30841, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
I've had notes added to my edits in the past that looked disturbingly like threats.
2014-11-04 30848, 2014
_Dave_
your "zero points" for negativity are far from each other on an absolute scale? :D
Those "if you don't cough up info, say bye-bye to this edit" comments sound like threats to me.
2014-11-04 30852, 2014
_Dave_
Without looking at that, I'd point out that Derwin's point might be better understood as "What we see is mainly what we look for."
2014-11-04 30841, 2014
_Dave_
to take the charge of "negativity" out of it :)
2014-11-04 30853, 2014
derwin
HibiscusKazeneko: your paraphrases reliably add agency and negative tone to the statements made.
2014-11-04 30804, 2014
derwin
he did not say anything like "if you don't cough up info, say bye-bye to this edit"
2014-11-04 30823, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
"also, the source you quoted doesn't mention these 2 numbers, so unless you disclose the source of information for these numbers, i'll have to vote it down."
and "have to vote it down" is... him saying he will vote.. which is his right as a user?
2014-11-04 30817, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
That's still a threat
2014-11-04 30822, 2014
derwin
how is "have to vote it down" "say bye-bye to this edit"?
2014-11-04 30836, 2014
derwin
you seem to misunderstand how voting is likely to work in a community?
2014-11-04 30845, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
The effect it would have had is my work would have been destroyed
2014-11-04 30854, 2014
hawke
derwin: well, to be fair a single no-vote is often enough to kill an edit.
2014-11-04 30805, 2014
derwin
you have your opinion, he has his. if you convince him, you get to change his. if you don't convince him, he's not threatning you by maintaining his view, and he's not destroying or killing anything?
2014-11-04 30824, 2014
HibiscusKazeneko
S/he was asking for info I could not provide at the time.
2014-11-04 30827, 2014
