drsaunde: So they get changed once the voting on the tracks finishes?
drsaunde
depends...if the recording has only one track...the length will be that...if there's more than one track than the recording length will be the median of the track lenghts

I see.

What exactly is the batch-add function? Is that the standard "Add relationship" function from the Edit Relationships screen?
hibiscuskazeneko: nikki's bot has used "$artistname at $locationname" when converting the relationships. That seems a sane default.
And just make up a tag. It's not like the tags are anything "official" anyway.
hibiscuskazeneko
That's what I ended up doing.
Freso
And mention it in the annotation.
And what batch add function? Release relationship editor?
reosarevok
Freso: your produced rel is in
Freso
reosarevok: Cool.
reosarevok
hibiscuskazeneko: so is your subseries one, but I found the code to restrict what entities are linked to a series blocks it :/ Hopefully that can be fixed soonish at least in beta :)
hibiscuskazeneko
OK. Did you see the other ticket I made?
Freso: I was referring to the release relationship editor. Nikki was asking me some questions on an old ticket and I was confused by a term.
hibiscuskazeneko: The "batch add" function in the rel rel editor works just like added a single relationship but can do it to multiple recordings or works at a time.
*adding
hibiscuskazeneko thought so
hibiscuskazeneko
I've never gotten it to work
Is it disabled?
(I'm editing a release now and the text for the batch-editor functions is grayed out)
reosarevok
You need to select the recordings first
(with the checkboxes)
hibiscuskazeneko
Ah
(we need better tutorials around here)

thank you for volunteering :)

Mineo: Are you talking to me?
reosarevok
I assume so :)
(that's the standard reply to "we need X" around here, heh :p)
hibiscuskazeneko
I've been wanting to make tutorials for a while but have been uneasy/unsure
It said "TODO: add pictures" on the top for a while, I guess eventually someone gave up on that ever happening :p

Yup
'''This documentation is a WIP. TODO: Pepper the page with pictures.'''
Was there for two years it seems, but never happened :D

My hands are full ATM (semester-end crap) but I can take some screenshots when I have time
reosarevok
That'd be nice :)
I mean, it's been waiting for those for two years, right - a month or two won't change much

is that event/sub-event thing for festivals subject for further change or does it stay that way? how do we handle festivals with multiple stages? one sub-event per stage and day?
Freso
I think I possibly asked this before, but is there a document with an up-to-date guideline for how to handle podcasts?
yeeeargh: Whatever makes sense. :)
yeeeargh: If there's a concert at 13:00 on a given stage and then nothing until 22:00, it might make more sense to do two events for that.
yeeeargh
i'm deciding if i wait a few more days/weeks before i redo the festivals i already entered.
reosarevok
yeeeargh: Multiple stages is unclear at the moment. I'd just do one event per day, for standard festivals
yeeeargh
just in case it would change again... should have waited a few days in the first place :D
reosarevok
Because mostly you're not expected to attend one stage
(but to move between them for whatever you want to see)
But if most people think event-per-stage is better I'm open to that too
Of course for the case of "stages" being different clubs around town or something then yeah, that'd be different events :)
yeeeargh
one point for having stages seperated: you would get proper time tables
reosarevok
Yeah, that's the main positive of it
If you want to start a discussion about it on the list later tonight/tomorrow (so, after part-of is officially announced) go for it
If you're not there I guess I will eventually do it myself, but maybe not that soon :)
well, you can add proper data tracks to the tracklist since the last update – you might have heard about that feature ;P – and my take on it would have been to add mp3s or videos of enhanced cd it. i guess this is actually why it was added. but how should we handle other content like games, photos or whatever else there could be?
and "A common example of trailing data track is found on CDs that include videos. As said before, these should not be entered into MusicBrainz." of that style guide contradicts this
for instance
dns53
I have an album, 2cd, 1 video dvd (a concert) and a data dvd with tutorials and ableton live projects for 3 of the songs, what do i do with the last dvd now?
Freso
yeeeargh: That is an example, not a guideline.
yeeeargh: The guideline says otherwise than the example, the example just hasn't been updated.
yeeeargh
oh, okay. how about other content then audio/video? probalby just note things like that on the release annotation. or should we mark them in any way in the tracklist too?
" an audio CD contains a data track at the end which is not visible in an audio CD player, it should not be included in the main part of the tracklist."
+If
" the data track contains audio or video tracks, those tracks should be entered in the data tracks section of the tracklist"
Why does it keep not copying over the "If"? Darn it.
Anyway.
Not including the data track is the default. If the data track happens to have AV content, then include that.
reosarevok
yeeeargh: oops, good catch
reosarevok goes remove that
yeeeargh
alrighty then, thanks

I'm working on adding the podcast "Bag Fjendens Linjer" to MusicBrainz. It is made and hosted by two guys from the Danish rap scene. Would it would be completely off to create an "Artist" for "Bag Fjendens Linjer" with these two guys as members, which the podcasts can then be attributed to?
