https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Event has "Main Artist at Place" but that's more an example of a descriptive name, it's not a guideline as such

I hate how MediaWiki doesn't let me use proper paragraphs within a list.
nikki
KRSCuan: I guess you missed the bit on that page where reosarevok said to use the mailing lists or forums for discussion longer than a vote comment (and I included a link, so it's not like anyone can claim they didn't know where they could respond to me :P)
KRSCuan
I don't even have a forum account.
And what's the point of spreading out the discussion in multiple places so no one sees it?
nikki
that's ok, they're free
KRSCuan
Also, wasn't the style process supposed to be more unified?
One time we vote and discuss things on the tracker, now it's the wiki as well as the mailing list and the forums.
nikki
yes, what's the point of spreading it out? the existing discussion is on the forums, so it doesn't really make sense to continue it on the wiki
KRSCuan
Oh you.
If you want to respond, maybe take it to the mailing list. :p
Depending on there this is headed, we might end up throwing out a guideline that has been in place for at least 10 years, which will fragment the data.
And nobody is going to "fix" stuff like "RMX" that we've been standardizing all this time.
If that is even what we are discussing there.
Some of those replacements are also done automatically by using guess case.

So nikki, no response for me unless I repost the stuff in the proper place, or just no time yet for a response?
nikki
well, I would prefer if it were posted in the right place so that I can reply to that normally, but I'm also perfectly capable of just copying and pasting and shoving quote tags round it and pretending it was posted in the right place
but right now I'm doing other stuff
I wouldn't get your hopes up about a fast response though. there are plenty of things I'm good at, but responding quickly to people is generally not one of them :P far too easily distracted and stuff
KRSCuan
That's fair.
But really, the discussion and voting should be in the same place.
(which might even be the forums, if we decide to move further style discussions there)
In general, not just this proposal.
CallerNo6
agreed. i assume the vote-on-the-wiki method is not a permanent solution.
I mean, I agree that *ideally* voting and discussion would be in one place. But as they say, you go to war with the MB you have :-)
heh... I've considered whether it'd make more sense to have multiple statuses for unofficial stuff
KRSCuan
Or maybe just rename bootleg to "unofficial"
Though that could be misunderstood as well.
hibiscuskazeneko
oh yeah
nikki
well, that's wouldn't solve what I wanted to solve :)
hibiscuskazeneko
even "official" is fluid enough to get blurry at times
KRSCuan
Snoop Dogg has an unsanctioned album released on Death Row Records after he parted from the label.
But the label owned the rights to those songs.
There are lots of similar examples
nikki
what I was trying to do when I was thinking about it was to distinguish counterfeit releases from unauthorised recordings, because the former are generally just a way of making money for the wrong people whereas the latter are generally just releasing stuff that nobody will ever get to hear otherwise
(I suppose there's some overlap but...)
KRSCuan
And there'd be the whole problem of migrating stuff to that new definition again.
Okay, I guess counterfeit would be mostly bootlegs in a group with other official releases.
While the others would be unique, such as live bootlegs.
nikki
yeah
KRSCuan
But if I copy and album, add a few songs I dubbed from a live concert and sell the product, it would be a counterfeit with some new stuff.
this editor has been copy-pasting the English translations off VGMdb and adding them as official releases
scratch that, there's a cluster of them
I'm trying to see if one or more of them is a sockpuppet
KRSCuan has been looking as well

Both? Or just one?

Mineo: oh?

there's the allgemeiner deutscher hochschulsportverband (http://www.adh.de/) which does all kinds of stuff and my universitys sports centre posts about the stuff they won on facebook all the time :D
nikki
I was wondering more about the colours
the only thing I can think of where we had specific colours was school uniforms
Mineo
I think our sports colors are green and black, at least that's what I've seen all the teams where when they were training

hm, I suppose if they only use them for sport it would explain why I don't recall any
Mineo
well, we don't have school uniforms, so :P
but everywhere else the CI colors are a dark blue and orange
nikki
well, sure, we didn't have uniforms at uni, but you could buy stuff like t-shirts and hoodies and those didn't have specific colours
Mineo
you can do that here as well - in green, dark blue or orange :P
