The Disc IDs attached to the CD release of Alive! 1975-2000 seem to indicate shorter track times (though upon looking at them directly they don't) but the iTunes digital release lists the original longer track times https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id205155994

Yeah, I'm curious as to the origins of those Disc IDs

Every indication I can find suggests the track times are the exact same as the original Alive! release

well, the original release was vinyl, right? so track times are a bit fluid :/

could be they've gone back to the master tapes for the new cd rather than just reprinted the old cd, which can make time differences; or alternately just getting someone to do a new cd master can change times ±2s without any real audio change.

All the Disc IDs I've seen for the various pressings of Alive! all support the longer track times

and WIkipedia suggests they were the same for the original vinyl

what kind of time differences are we looking at here? I only checked one track at random, and it was 1s difference, which is well within the margin of error.

Some tracks are over a minute apart in listed time

Usually if a version of a release is re-edited (especially by a major act such as KISS) there's some record of it somewhere

yeah, like the track "Cold Gin", https://musicbrainz.org/cdtoc/2.HsR0F63amsOZ9Zr... shows the longer length

so I dunno why that's in the db at 5:43 :/

i'd say go ahead with the merge; either the disc id is wrong or there's bigger issues that would require splitting ohter tracks out later :/

If there's bigger issues they're likely to be documented somewhere
