Is there any ritual or procedure to follow when setting cover art?
      • CatQuest
        hibiscuskazenek1: I don't know what you mean.
      • when askig like that you have to be more specific about *what* makes you think it' "photoshop"
      • also not to assume the editor in the edit did it purposfully. ie. say "tdid you know this exists as a photoshop version also? I think this migh be a photoshopped version because: [reason]" and then go on to say (politely) that we usually don't want photoshopped covers
      • but again, I don't see what's "photoshop" about thaat cover.. is it the right link?
      • (I mean clearly it's been edited, blue and made with glowy eyes. but it's from 198, i doubth they had much "photoshop" back then, so it's probably printing raster efects as they did before)
      • CatQuest knows nothing about the techniques or terms of older "shopping"on graphics, but knew it very much has been a thing since forever.)

      • well it’s useless script apart from this bug search so…
      • hibiscuskazeneko: it’s running, I set 2014-04-30 as starting date for now…

I have a release with the same front cover (and most of the same artwork) as http://www.discogs.com/Derek-And-The-Dominos-La... and I'm unsure how to title it.
      • It should go in the Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs release group, I'd think, but I'm tempted to title it "The Layla Sessions".
      • Possibly "The Layla Sessions: 20th Anniversary Edition".
      • CatQuest joined the channel
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Leftmost: That sounds like what I'd do (alternatively I'd use the original title with the disambiguation "20th Anniversary edition")
      • Leftmost
It's kind of a tough call, I think, because the cover has "The Layla Sessions" more prominent than the original title, but the spine gives the original title.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Yeah, these reissued releases annoy me. Especially when there are series or edition names involved.

Does scratching get credited as turntables?
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        Yes
      • There was some discussion about that on the old instrument request wiki page
      • kuno joined the channel
      • CatQuest
aw man don't even.. that old instrument request thing.. man that thing
      • but yes. afaik scratching (as long as it's thek ind with DJ's NOt the kind you'd do with e.g. a fork on a calabash or whatever) is "tunrtables"
      • *turntables
      • CatQuest thinks that's pretty much what "turntables" is supposed ot represent as an instrument
      • hibiscuskazenek1 thinks that's it too
      • but it comes down to the issue with representing an instrument, and then representing that instrument being "played" unconventionally. e.g. a piano with it's back off and someone going all harpo on it's string
      • s
      • how to represent this with instrument credits? does it geta new instrument entity for it' alternate way?
      • an acoutsic guitar can also be a percusion instrument
      • this is confusing stuff
      • my instinch is to first and formost represent the instrumnet in it's base with it's entity
      • havig a "modified" atribute would probably be a very good idea
      • "harpo played *modified* Piano on "piano strings" etc.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Pretty much the only attributable way I know to play a turntable is to scratch a record on it
      • Otherwise it wouldn't be worth noting
      • CatQuest
oh there's probably lots of ways. plaing it bakcwards. using it as a teremin conductor? :P
      • CatQuest is being vaguly silly
      • hibiscuskazenek1
IIRC records can't be played backwards (can they? my mom said they couldn't)
      • That theremin thing is a bit of a stretch
      • CatQuest
        aahh.. hah
      • they can.
      • trust me on this
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I guess if you managed to reverse the motor direction...
      • CatQuest
it would probably also do havok wit he actual record/needle/pickup, but yes
      • reosarevok
CatQuest: Well, there are quite a few pieces for piano that explicitly ask for things like that :)
      • (I've seen one performed live, was pretty cool)
