Nyanko-sensei can you link one jasrac example? The edit note is big too but if we are getting too long URL with the elements we want to seed... It must be why POST was enabled for release editor... Maybe for the same reason it should be allowed for all seeds...
      • Nyanko-sensei
      • jesus2099
I will also reduce the edit note btw, I want to do that for long because it is seriously too big
      • Nyanko-sensei
just regen it with the userscript after loading the form?
      • jesus2099
I did that when seeding was not possible...
      • It's unstable, if I can seed I prefer seeding, it's officially supported
      • Unstable I mean I have to change the code often when MBS changes

      • Nyanko-sensei
I'd prefer copy/paste instead of the GET request, but wht I paste the summary it doesn't add the credits...
      • *when
      • I guess it's a firefox issue
      • jesus2099
Oh yes you're right. I still have to add credits there... And indeed there it's the old system...
      • This is for existing works. For new works, why don't you prefer the seed? It creates the work at the same time.
      • Nyanko-sensei
I'm adding them in bulk from tracks
      • and then fixing it with the jasrac info
      • one of the auto-editing perks. easy to fix things
      • jesus2099
Doing this way you can get version info or mix info wrongly in works though
      • But ok I see :)
      • Have to go :) bye

Does AccurateRip depend on the MB metadata?
      • hibiscuskazenek1 has barely heard of AccurateRip
      • hibiscuskazenek1
What is it? A CD extraction program?
      • CJ_
No. It is a database of rip hashes. So that you can compare what you ripped to what everyone else got.
      • And someone deleted the wikipedia page.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        ah
      • CJ_
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        Oh, nice
      • I should run some of the files on my computer through that
      • CJ_
If they are flac and you have the cue sheet I believe you can use cuetools.
      • I am not sure otherwise how to use AR aside from the initial rip.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        I have XLD installed
      • I guess the only way to test it is to do a test rip?
      • CJ_
        I assume so.
      • I have had morituri tell me that I have an accurate rip while AR tells me that it is not. Currently I am setting those discs aside to investigate later.
      • Did you have to set an offset with XLD?
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I haven't used the program in forever
      • I initially installed it to extract pregap tracks
      • so I have no clue
      • CJ_
        Understood.
      • I have never seen it. What did you use previously?
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I normally use iTunes' onboard ripper
      • (so I can sideload music)
      • XLD is a Mac application, BTW (I take a lot of heat for using one)
      • CJ_
I am familiar with XLD but have never seen it. Why would you take heat over XLD? My understanding is that dBa only recently came to Mac and previous to that XLD was the recommended program.
      • I would definitely expect you to take heat for using iTunes ripper, however. :)
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I don't think I've had anyone comment on me using XLD
      • The one time I brought it up was when I successfully extracted "Goodbye Bear" off https://musicbrainz.org/release/3697bf78-a281-4...
      • CJ_
Understood. I misunderstood your statement about taking heat.
      • This is my third time ripping my collection, hence my desire to make it correct.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        I understand your desire
      • I personally have had issues with disk drives screwing up rips
      • I've become paranoid about it
      • CJ_
That is what secure rippers such as XLD and AccurateRip are there for.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
It still won't help matters if the drive is broken/flaky
      • CJ_
If your rip is the same as many others, then you can be assured it is correct.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Or if the disc is badly scratched
      • CJ_
Yes. AR will not fix your drive, but it will tell you that it is bad.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        the drive or the disc?
      • CJ_
AR has no way of knowing. But if you get bad results from multiple discs you can safely assume it is the drive.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I did have XLD get stuck on a badly damaged disc once
      • CJ_
I have had several damaged discs. They are also going in my "fix later" pile. :)
      • I have not decided if I will attempted to repair them or just replace them.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Some discs are long out of print and difficult to replace
      • ruaok joined the channel
      • CJ_
Agreed. But that is a worry for another day.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
        True
      • CJ_
Today I will rip the discs that rip correctly.
      • There are still plenty of those to be done.
      • hibiscuskazenek1
If worse came to worse you could replace them with (legal) digital downloads
      • Nyanko-sensei joined the channel
      • pankkake
I don't think AccurateRip uses MB, but the CTDB plugin for EAC does
      • CJ_
        CTDB?
      • pankkake
      • CJ_
Ah. Yes, that is the tool I was mentioning earlier to check already ripped files.
      • I was trying to determine how AR identifies files to know how to compare them.
      • pankkake
it looks like it uses DiscIDs
      • hibiscuskazenek1
Opinions needed: Should this be titled "One Live KISS" since the band's logo is present on the cover? https://musicbrainz.org/release/7e759994-79ad-4...
      • pankkake
I have no idea what's best here
      • hibiscuskazenek1
I'd default to other sources, but all I can find that aren't authored by the band themselves spell the band's name as Kiss
      • BTW, that's the same typeface used on the cover of his memoir http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0062114042/
      • (sorry about the delay; I was trying to see if there was a French edition available)

      • ZaphodBeeblebrox wonders when people talk about "accurate rips" if they mean that the music is messed up? if not why it's important :/
      • kuno
ZaphodBeeblebrox: yes, the music can be messed up.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
        that sucks
      • that almost never happens for me. even using itunes :)
      • kuno
ZaphodBeeblebrox: CD ROM drives are not good at reading audio tracks accurately, the main problem is that the software ripping the audio doesn't know if there is an error in the data it read.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
        oh
      • kuno
ZaphodBeeblebrox: so perhaps you only have a small hiccup in one out of 50 cds you read or something, it would be super annoying to only discover that when you listen to it. You may not even notice it at first when it's a small error, but only the 20th time you listen to it or something.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
        weeell yes but
      • kuno
ZaphodBeeblebrox: then you have to re-rip that CD, and go through the whole thing again, and you're still not sure there is no error in your rip.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
uhm.. just ript the one song and listne to it?
      • kuno
ZaphodBeeblebrox: if you're trying to rip your CD collection because you want to archive all of it digitally (and throw/give away your CDs), that's a shitty thing to do.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
well yes! but tat's not wha I do :)
      • kuno
Maybe I want to keep copies around of that music I liked in 1985, but I really don't enjoy it enough to repeatedly listen to it again looking for errors :)
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox pretty much has all them usic he owns in one huge playlit on his

So folks use EAC and AccurateRip to make sure a rip is good, and then you don't have to worry about it.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
it takes like days to cycle rough
