Might be a silly question, but I can't really remember: how are physical releases with bonus downloadable options handled? Are they considered a second medium, or are they a different release entirely?

I don't think we ever got a clear consensus but I might be wrong :p

Running into that now, odd situation is that in this case the digital release is available separately (which could make it a different release) but its from a different label. :-D

It seems odd to add a release that isn't actually ever available, but at the same time someone who has the physical release (e.g. bought secondhand) doesn't necessarily have the digital download copy.

unless the downloadable bonus is exclusive to the physical release (not obtainable by any other means than buying the physical release), I'd say it's two releases, otherwise it's one release with 2 mediums (imho)

You can get the digital release elsewhere but it's on a different label.

hawke: if the bonus is freely downloadable by anyone, i would go for a new release group, otherwise (the release is needed to get the bonus) i would go for an extra medium.
